Hey, folks,

Should the wheel wells of a C2 be painted (and, if so, what kind of finish), or are they just a natural/raw fiberglass?

As always, thanks in advance for the info.:)

They were undercoated first in the tire throw areas (a "stripe" if you will, from front to rear, to protect the fiberglass from "star" damage from stones), then they were blacked-out for appearance with a semi-flat black lacquer - same paint used for the underhood blackout.

John,

What is the approximate area of the under-fender that was undercoated prior to paint?

Mr. JohnZ sir, thanks for the information.

And thanks to all who take the time to respond to the queries on this forum.

I have certainly appreciated all of the information gathered here and hope to eliminate the 'engine delete' option on my 63 real soon!

There was a LOT of variation in how the undercoating was applied; generally it was a "stripe" about 10"-12" wide, sprayed front to rear, covering the stone throw area in both front and rear wheel wells ("your coverage may vary" :) ).
