c2 wiper switch questions

Are any of wiper switch connections on the body of
the switch assy connected to the metal body of the
switch or are they to be isolated?

My switch has a connection,not sure if it is correct
the wiper motor has only one speed working.

Also does anyone know the ohms value of the resistor
used with the wiper ( shown on page 12-74 fig. 117)
in chasis service manual?

Cannot help with the resistor ohm value(s) but the '67 CSM :upthumbswireing diagram shows only the three wires from the motor harness connected to the switch. Light blue, dark blue and yellow. The switch provides ground to run and hold in the parking pawl solnoid thru one of the three leads (whichever speed is selected). Perhaps there is a wire running from the switch body to part of the birdcage for a more secure ground. Turning the switch 'off' interupts the ground for the parking pawl solnoid and allows it to fall into the notch breaking the ground for the motor run circuit.

If you only have one speed (high?) it indicates your resistor is not in the circuit (shot) or shorted accross.
 
The dark blue wire is for the washer pump. The other two wires ground either one or two motor fields, for low or high speed. The ground path is from the switch body to the cluster, through the black cluster ground wire to ground. :)

thank you for the reply, I am taking your and John's information
into account as I figure this system out. I will add one item
I noted One speed only will work with the switch body floatiing in space. If you apply an external ground to the sw. body both
speeds work . I am also going to look at this solenoid/pawl
action.

I don't have the circuitry pattern inside the switch, but the wiper motor has 12V power any time the key is in "On" or "Accessory" (center terminal on 3-terminal board on motor), and it operates by grounding either one or both of the outboard terminals on that board - if both outboard terminals are grounded, the motor runs in low speed - if only one is grounded, the motor runs in high speed. That grounding is done through the wiper switch and its contact with the cluster (if the cluster isn't grounded, the wiper motor won't work); all the wiper switch does is to provide a ground path.

Compound-Wound DC Motors - A combination of the shunt wound and series wound types combines the characteristics of both. Characteristics may be varied by varying the combination of the two windings. These motors are generally used where severe starting conditions are met and constant speed is required at the same time

When comparing the advantages of the series and shunt motors, the series motor has greater torque capabilities while the shunt motor has more constant and controllable speed over various loads. These two desirable characteristics can be found in the same motor by placing both a series field and shunt field winding on the same pole. Thus, we have the compound motor.
