Afternoon All:
So, bought a 82 CE about 1 month ago. Lots of replacing going on.
I've been reading about the 85 fuel pump. However, Getting a new tank, full OEM sending unit and lines put in.
IF it's all new, why go with the 85?. Seems like a lot of rewiring.
Wouldn't all new be just as good?
Your Thought.......
Thanks

The problem is the '82 thru '84 pumps don't produce enough volume to feed the engine past 3500 rpm. The '85 pump is a direct retrofit with no changes in wiring or anything else needed. The '85 pump draws about one more amp so it's a more powerful pump. You say you're replacing the tank and sending unit? Why? If both are in good condition only the pump needs to be changed and it only takes about one hour at the most.

Tank is rusting inside and debris is in the tank. Plus, I want a new Galvanized tank.
