C3's are Thieves favorite target .C3's are #1 out of the top 10

This months issue of CarCraft has a little writeup from Haggerty Insurance Co. a leader in Classic Car insurance...and they said that 13% of all thier theft claims are C3's ; this is the highest among the various makes that they insure. In fact, in the article, there were 5 chevrolet vehicles among the top 10 that thieves like most ! I guess they favor chevys over fords ! .

If you dont have some sort of an antitheft device, now might be the right time to get one. I use 2 simple mini toggle switches which are hidden : one thats inline with the electric fuel pump circuit, and the other is inline with the MSD box circuit.
Total cost doing it myself : $ 8.00

INSURANCE

Yea, I read that to. but really, you have to look at it this way.
1. that was hagarty ins. investigation.
2. Top ten stolen car, CORVETTE#1 66-82 by 13.3%
10% are all inside job's. and for those of you that feel like you have to argue over that. Don't kid yourself. that is why they carry
insurance. then when they know it wont sell for what they want
OH NO, help police, my car was stolen. Yea right. these people
will have their car's, no matter what, in there garage, or some safe place, everyday of their life then the one day it stay's out WHHOOPPAA. gone.

well ... that may be ... but what % of all makes/models does vette comprise of the total of vehicles H insures?

If 30% (20-30-40???) of their insureds are vettes ... that'll certainly scew the stats.

Heres a trick that I did. Since my factory alarm does not work, I wired the power lead to the HEI dist. through the keyed switch in the fender. When I park the car I disable the ignition with the old alarm switch. The car will crank but not start because no power to the dist. I taped the wires to make them look like all the other wiring harnesses. Not 100% foolproof but it will take someone a while to figure it out. Better than nothing.

How else do you think they are going to keep the RATES UP.? Announcing that they are "most stolen" is good for at LEAST a 30% premium......

Come on, don't we all LOVE insurance companies and want to help them get richer????
