Hi.
Have a Pioneer stereo with navigation and DVD (Avic) which i plan to install in my Corvette. Question: Speed input. Where do i find this wire or do i have to buy a seperate unit to generate this puls?

All the best,
Steve

Nobody knows? I have the FSM but i am away from home at present.

Check the installation instructions, your seller of the AVIC or Crutchfield. The speed input may be optional.

We have a Pio AVIC installed in our Smart and I don't believe the speed input was connected. On some units the speed input disables certain features unless the car is stopped, as it does on many Lexus cars.

With electronic speedometer i think there must be a wire with the signal i need :-(
Nobody tried this?

Steve

If you have the AVIC-Zx series, there is instructions on Crutchfield. If it is not there anymore, there is a guy on corvetteforum.com called stealthLT4 who hows how.
I will look at my FSM and see if I can find it for you.

On 93's the 2 wires coming out of the VSS(vehicle speed sensor) are yellow for high speed and purple for low speed, the wire you need going to the oem radio is dark green/white stripe. This is what tells the stock radio how fast the car is going for the volume control and is .35 volts.
If you need a diagram send a email to whtevette@aol.com and I will send you the diagram.
Also, you will need a 1 ohm resitor accross one wire, sorry I forgot which one so you don't throw a code.

I am not on my home net and can receive but not send e-mail.
If you could e-mail me the drawing to: steve.berg1@me.com

There was a JVC stereo in it when i brought it so hopefully it is already wired to avoid codes. If not i have resistors as i saw a discussion in that mather on CAC earlier.

Thank you for your kindness.

Best regards,
Steve
