I presently have an 85 with the 4+3 and 183,000 kilometers which I have restored to a real nice looking and driving car, I really enjoy driving it. I love the feel, the sound and everything else that goes with a Corvette.

In considering a newer car, do I go a 96 C4 to keep the C4 characteristics or move up to a C5, say 97/98, with it's newer (better?) design.

I read and hear that the C5's are mushmobiles, boulevard cruisers in comparison to the C4's.

What's the scoop? Can I get an unbiased opinion in this forum?? :D

Thanks in advance for any opinions offered .... Ron

Here is the thing, it is what you are out for now, on one hand the C5 is more refined than the C4, and has comparable horsepower, but S.OP. feelings are a little different depending on what enging you have in your C4. With that many miles on your C4 I can see that you enjoy driving it, so with that in mind you should know everything there is to know about your C4 so if I were you I would look for another C4 with lesser miles on it and be happy or collect your pennies and get a Zo6 and really be happy. Good luck

Ron ... if you really are considering getting another car like the C5, I suggest you get behind the wheel and test drive the C5 for yourself, because there is no substitute experiencing it for yourself. I know you love your 85, the feel and the power and all ... now get behind the wheel of the C5, I am sure you won't be disappointed. What would be great is ... if you can keep both generations inside your garage .... hmmmm, sounds good to me!!! :D

I dig the C5...but who knows what you'll think...

Best advice is drive a few and decide for yourself..

GM invited me to one of those drive of a lifetime corvette events back in July of 1998..

That was it..I was hooked...now I'm a bonafide corvette fanatic...

Good luck and let us know what you find as you test drive them.....

Go for the Z06 if you want to have even more laughs..

Well, I bought the 98 and I think I'll be keeping the 85.... :D

Guess the Durant will have to go to the hay shed ... :( ... four cars in the shop is snug, no way for 5.

I just bought my '97, would not go back to a C4...big improvement to say the least

"Well, I bought the 98 and I think I'll be keeping the 85.... :D "

Now that's the best plan I have heard out of Ottawa in a long time!:L

I'm still toolin around in my C4...thinking about a C6 down the road....now if I keep the 4 and added a 6...well that idea I guess adds up to a 10!!:eyerole

Enjoy the 85 and the 98.....the C5 is super! By the way, I tried out a 99 Ragtop before I bought my 96 a couple of years ago and I really liked it, but the LT4, ZF 6 speed, preferable interior, C4 lines and clambshell hood amoungst other things on my 96 finally won me over...so I guess it's each to his own ride.....sorta like women.:beer
