I wanted to post a brief message to inform everyone that, after following the advice from the tech discussions on this site, I was able to lower my coolant temperature range from 225-235 to 172-178, on a 1994 Roadster with auto trans and 78K miles.
I first did a radiator removal and cleaned the trash and dirt from the exterior and flushed the cores, installed a 160 stat, installed a manual fan switch from Mid-America and finally did a complete cooling system flush this weekend. I utilized the simple method which you use the small reservor return hose to drain the coolant until it runs clear. I was going to use the typical cooling system flush chemical but decided against it because of aluminum radiator/heads...comments? I then drained everything and refilled with glycol (green) coolant 50/50 and Water Wetter. Needless to say I have a cool running Vette and I'm not stessing out in traffic any more.

Thanks to all the member posts. CAC rocks!

Nice!

A little elbow grease and common sense goes a long way. Can you imagine what a shop would have charged you to do all that.
:crazy :m

Ok, my question is this, I did that entire procedure a couple weeks ago, minus the Water Wetter... Can that be added after the fact, or does it HAVE to be mixed with the water/antifreeze??

Jeff,
Just pop the pressure cap on the top reservoir in the morning before you start the car. Siphon off a little if the reservoir is full. Add your Water Wetter. It'll get into the system just fine. Don't put it in the overflow jug down in the fender area though. It'll probably never make the trip into the system. Since I flushed my system months ago the overflow jug is still exactly where I set the level with fresh fluid. I guess that's a good thing :)
Don't expect any miracle with Water Wetter. I have yet to notice a difference. But some people do.

good job roadster-Jbaker-anytime is fine but I would make sure the car gets up to operating temp. so the thermo. opens up and it mixes well Dennis:w
