looking for a 85
Been hearing some storys about the C4 having dash board electrical problems and wondering if that roomer is valid, if so what years were having problerms and what were they? thanx

That there are widespread problems with the early C4 digital IP is a rumor.

That the newest of those digital IPs is almost 25 years old and is far beyond its design life means greater numbers of them are going to fail is fact.

I have a 92, does that matter? also while Im here need to ask when the car is going down the road
the oil gauge needle is at the 1/2 way mark, is that normal for a car that has 124K ?? and whats your take on
ARCO PREMIUM and does it have TOPTIER? THANX

Even if (and when) you do have issues with the dash, just GOOGLE Corvette C4 Dash Repair. Lots of sources for repair/rebuild/fix it yourself out there.
My 89 with 145,000 miles on it still runs 60 psi oil pressure at 70 mph, what kind of pressure is your needle indicating?

And, as a side note, GM did have an analog dash ready to go in case the digital didn't make it. One of them sits in the NCM.

Long as I'm at it, here's a side note to the side note, Hib's 25 year old comment got me thinking (scary thought). The last B 52 was built in 1962, an H model I believe. If the Air Force can keep them flying, we can keep our C4's flying, too.

thanx for the reply, not in the car now but believe the oil gauge only has lines and this one reads 1/2 way when going dowen the hiway and 3/4 when just starting the car, it also drops below the 1/2 way mark when at a stop light, whats your opinion on that?

Far be it from me to give advice on motors, you need advice from someone that knows motors. Hopefully Hib will see this as he's wealth of information. You might ask C4C5, too. There's a lot of people out here with lots of knowledge. I'm just not one of them.

You might consider moving this post or asking your questions on the C4 technical and performance thread. Might get faster answers there.

I'm guessing you're referring to the oil pressure.
If so my 81 use to do the same, until I changed the oil. Now it sits around 40psi most of the time. (102k miles)

My '84's digi-dash was repaired locally decades ago and works fine, if a bit inaccurately, as noted in many other posts.

GM did have an analog dash ready to go in case the digital didn't make it. One of them sits in the NCM.
That's news to me and an interesting tidbit.

With our money and lots of it! The earlier Buffs are in boneyards and badly wrinkled!

Ummm, wait a sec! :w

BTW there is a post on ARCO gas, seeing as the OP posted that and his gauge question a few places. You might read the piece I found/posted on oil pressure versus oil flow.
