1992 corvette...base model decent shape 100.000 miles..$6500 to $10,000
1992 cadallac 100,000 miles...$2500
1992 ford F350 4 door 100,000 miles...$3000
1992 mustang 100,000 miles $300....lol

the C4 is doin pretty well in the current market
My cute wife and I cruzed Hollywood blvd. tonite in mine after a fresh detail and..turned a few heads.. she still looks good for a 18 year old chevrolet....
guess ill keep her..if she will let me..lol:cool

I think we can say that prices in general are slowly falling. The nice thing about a C4 is that even my 86 looks newer. I had a guy ask me the other day what year it was, after I told him, he admittedly said he thought it was a late 90's. ;shrug

I think the prices for some years (the oldest of the C4s) has probably hit bottom.

Unfortunately, it is hard to tell what the bottom is with the economy in its current shape. ;shrug

FWIW- with cash for clunkers... I'm thinking the bottom is between $3k-$5k.:chuckle

MY 87 C4 IS DOING GREAT! BOUGHT IT A YEAR AGO. WHEN I PURCHASED HER SHE HAD 48,789K MILES ON HER. A YR LATER SHE HAS 50,121K MILES. I PAID $ 7,500.00 FOR HER. SHE NEEDED VERY LITTLE. BUT BEING ANAL ABOUT THINGS, I PUT CLOSE TO $4,500.00 INTO HER. BRAKES,SHOCKS,SEATS,CARPET,TINT WINDOWS,KEYLESS ENTRY,MASTER CYLINDER,WEATHER STRIPING,ETC. WITH THESE CARS YOU COULD GO ON AND ON. THE LIST IS ENDLESS. DOING 90% MYSELF ITS FUN AND FRUSTRATING BECAUSE TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT IS HAIR PULLING. BUT WHEN IT IS DONE-I AM SATISFIED!!:thumb TOOK TO MY MECHANIC FRIDAY FOR OIL CHANGE AND INSPECTION. HE TOLD THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND HAZARD FUSE KEEPS POPPING. HE SAID TAKE IT HOMME AND TRY TO FIGUER IT OUT. BEING HONEST AND NOT RIPPING ME OFF I FIGURED IT OUT. CALLED HIM UP AND HE CALLED IN THE PART(BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH)GOT IT AT COST. LONG STORY SHORT-LOL-I AM NOT GOING TO GET ALL MY MONEY BACK AND DON'T EXPECT TO.
1987 C4 50,121K MILES GREAT COND. $10,500

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Its all about the miles a mint 1996 vette with 17k miles might sell
for 18k. Another 1996 with 80k miles maybe only 8k.
Its all about the miles, the lower the miles the higher the price.

I think it has to do with mileage and condition.

Though, I believe the $6k price for a C4 is for one that is ragged out. I see mid 90's Trans Am for sell for that much. No way am I gonna sell a Vette for the same price as a Trans Am.

C-4 Values

Sorry for the long post here but this is a good story:

Here in WI and I imagine just like anywhere it seems as if your early C-4s with miles are cheap. There is an 84 on CL with 167K and they are asking $4995. It was 3995 but the dealer said they were tired of low ball offers. (I took that as a hint they would not take less). I have seen an 86 w/ 90K listed for $4300 and several 85-87's for $5K and 88-90 for $6-$7. I also see the "make offer" ad's. Since these are always "out of my way" I never call.

However , I did notice an early C-4 on the way to our cottage up north. It has been there all summer sitting in a lawn for sale. Since my wife wants to get on our boat on the weekends I never stop. (plus she would kill me) anyways last week, no wife so I stopped. I see why it is still for sale. Asking price for the 84 with faded silver two tone paint was $16200!:ugh

So, since no one was home I call the guy, left message and two days later he called back. Said it was owned by an older lady and she wanted to park it there since he lived on a major road. He said she wanted to list it for $18,000 but he talked her into $17000 so what I saw was a new price (on sale) and he can accept $14,000 with out calling her. :thumb

I asked what he knew about Vettes and the car. He said the 84 that was in his yard was a special edition 25 year anniversary car. Also only 3 owners. :W

I said "I hate to break it to you but the 84 is NOT the 25 year anniv of the Vette. Vettes came out in 53" (now get this...) he said "yeah and......" :bash Me: "the 83 would have been the 30th aniv. car but they did not make an 83. The 84 is actually a 31st anniv car, in other words it is not special" Him: "Oh yeah, ok I see" :ohnoes

He asked me what it was worth, I told him I would maybe give her $3K since it is a crossfire car that has been sitting outside all summer with weeds growing around it. That is if the car ran and is drivable and everythng works. Price would come down if I found more things wrong. If it was parked inside every night and was in mint condition and she had all of the documentaion maybe more.

I think I burst his bubble a little and he said he would call the lady. I just told him to look on CL and see what people are asking and most of those cars are not selling so asking and getting are two different things.

It will be interesting to see if it is still there this weekend.

So, I guess if it needed new tires, AC work, or something else you would tell them to give it to you for free? Haha. I think the low ball valve on a C4 is if it is ragged out, which alot of them are. I see third gen Trans Ams for sell around $5k all day long. The reason people aren't buying things like Corvettes is because of the economy. It doesn't mean they aren't worth anything. I'm sure there are 1 million dollar paintings out there that no one are buying, it doesn't mean the painting is worthless.

I'm willing to bet everyone who is saying a C4 Vette is worth next to nothing, and someone wrecked into theirs. They'd be pulling out the Nada Guides and telling the insurance agent their C4 is worth $13K top dollar.

No, I would put my cash in my pocket and move on to the next 84 that is out there for sale. Or to the 85 or 86 or 87 that has better performance for slightly more $$. When these things sit on CL the whole summer at these prices there is no demand. No demand impacts the price. Sure my C-4 has come down and I know that, just because some book says it worth somthing, does not mean a buyer or seller will discover a price and make a trade.

I have seen some cheap LT1 trans ams and camaros for sale as well. camaros in the $3K ball park.

You are right about the economy, WI has a high unemployment rate and So. WI is very high. Also when you run out of the credit buyers you loose another bidder if you will so less demand. Those of us that pay cash are cheap S.O.B's anyways

corvette 85
like this.?

i found those three in 10 seconds and..they are just in the los angeles area..
granted i would have zero use for any of em but a man with some time and space might find a jewel in a junk pile
:w

Yep. That is what I was talking about. This one is expensive but runs, is kept in a garage and looks like a nice car:

Corvette 1988, 125k miles

This one has been on here ALL summer and was listed las fall (notice the leaves falling) His price is not finding a buyer:

1985 chevy corvette

$4300 asking price must have moved the 86 with 90K miles since I see it is not listed.

If the lady did not take my $3K for the 84 sitting in the tall grass I can go look at this 87:
1987 Chevrolet Corvette

Another 84, this one has been here all year as well:
*** 1984 Chevy Corvette-Silver on Black-with RARE Glass Top ***

Buyers Market. And yes if a million $ painting can not find a buyer then it is not worth $1 million. It is only worth what someone will pay.

1992 corvette...base model decent shape 100.000 miles..$6500 to $10,000
1992 cadallac 100,000 miles...$2500

Nelson84, please remain on topic. And do not call others out when you have made it clear you won't post photos of your wife either. Parts don't count.

Sure, you and I can go find a ragged out C4 selling for cheap. That doesn't mean they are all worth the same. Also, some people sell them cheap just to get rid of them as they make pretty good money, so the price hit doesn't really matter to them.

I'm sure I can find a ragged out Ferrari selling for cheap, does that mean all the other Ferrari's are worth the same as a ragged out one selling for cheap? No.

I've seen some quality buys lately. The most recent was a low mileage 86 coupe. The seller can ask what they want, but somebody needs to actually pay that. There is an :booty for every saddle.
