I just re-assembled my C4 headlight motor after taking it apart and replacing the main gear and the three anti vibration bushings. Now the light goes up when the other is down and goes down when the other is up? It can't be a case of reverse polarity as the wires all plug in one direction! Any suggestions , I have the lamp on my table waiting for a good idea before I pull it apart again.

My guess would be something is put in backwards, upside down, or 180 degrees opposite of what it should be. I followed these instructions found on Mid-America's website when I replaced the bushings on "The Beast". They might help you figure out what went back together wrong.

c4 ~ winking lights

Thanks for the informative article. My guess would be the motor is turned all the way 'opposite' of where it should be. The gears can only go in one way and the wiring is designed to go only one way. (both are plug ins)
I will remove the motor again and turn the motor until it stops in the opposite direction of 'closed' that the 'bucket' (headlight assembly) is in now, mark and turn the new gear 180 degrees.

Thanks you so much for the article, this is another cold and snow weekend project!

interior lights remain on

my C4 has an electrical problem. The seatbelt light remains on along with the air bag warning light. Anyone know how to repaior this situation? They're always on when the ignition is on.
Thanks

c4 lights repaired

The article was most informative. Thanks
I just replaced the headlight by turning the main gear 180 degrees and replacing the gear and filing down the bushings in the motor assembly to be sure of proper contact. The light is no longer 'winking' it's working in sequence with othe other lamp now. The trick to reinstalling the motor bushings is to bend paperclips to hold the spring loaded bushings while you slide the motor assembly back into the housing. Simple and easy repair for headlights.
Thanks for the support!:beer
