Hi guys, after running a search and not finding an answer I thought I would ask of what you thought and an opinion. I have a 84 factory two tone Z51 that came to me for almost nothing. I have the car in ruunning condition and have decided to run it the first year with its aged paint to see if I really like it prior to dumping money and effort into a fresh paint job and then losing interest in the car. My car is silver upper, dark grey lower, with graphite leather interior. Since the paint is aged and is not able to shine like it once did even with a polish, I thought I might add a hood stripe maybe in the lower color to try to take your eyes from the lusterless finish. My questions are in your opinions, is it better with a gloss finish on the stripes that may show how bad the base color is or with a matte finish to not draw attention? The car looks great from 15 feet away but 5 feet away and you know it needs some love. I like the two tone right now even though it dates the car becuase it stands out amongst the others I have seen in my area. I do not know if I will keep it the same color if I choose to paint the car in the future. Again this is a budget driver until I know if I like the car enough to take the next step.
