Hi any recommendations as to the best repair manual for a C4,I don't mind either a book or cd/dvd.
I have a 1991 model.

Thanks--Phil

The Helms publications are the the originals as used by dealers, available here Service Manuals, Owner Manuals, Wiring Diagrams, Service Bulletins - Helm Incorporated but quite expensive, also available from forum vendors such as Zip Corvette Corvette Parts - Performance and Restoration ; less expensive manuals such as Chilton and Haynes are nearly worthless.
Also search Ebay and the C4 Parts for Sale forum here, where you can often find bargains, shipping will be expensive for you unfortunately. Be sure you only buy the red cover two volume set, not the white "preliminary" version which will not have up to date information.
Another option is a subscription to Alldata ALLDATAdiy.com Leading Source of Factory Automotive Repair Information which has all service manual information plus Technical Service Bulletins, labor and parts information. I use both, because at least for me it is easier to have the book in hand when working on the car since many jobs require flipping between sections, that can be a pain with an on-line resource.

First I totally agree with "toptech6" that the Haynes and Chilton books are "worthless".

I think, for the DIY performing occasional service, maintenance and basic modifications to a C4, the Factory Service Manual is the best choice. CAC sponsor Zip Products.

Now if you are doing a lot of work on your car and/or you are working on a number of different C4s you might also want to look into AllData.

The Helms publications
Highly recommend the 'other' part, too, the Electrical Troubleshooting, Section 8C which is a separate, thin book. It is largely block diagrams, etc, but can really help understand how the systems are supposed to work.

I always said, FWIW, if ya know enough to understand the Motor, Helms, Chilton manuals, you don't need them. :w

There are, however, errors in all of them.
