Has anyone had any experience with converting an '85 transmission from automatic to manual? Is it worth the effort? What are the costs etc.?

BTT I'd like to follow this myself.
I had the same idea for my '89 convert.
My latest theory was to buy a "donor" car with manual tranny, preferably
also with sport seats and ride control. I'd then make a swap (assuming the donor
car was otherwise fit for resale, if not then I'd sell off anything left over).
I found that a donor '89 would cost from $5,000 to $10,000 depending on
contents and condition. Labor would be extra, as would be any new parts
required, such as bearings, gaskets, repairs, other items I'd want to replace
might be clutch stuff, etc.

I converted my 89 from an Auto to 6spd waaay back in 1996

it cost around $4000 for trans set-up (everthing needed) and then I pain another $1200 for a D44 (disc to disc)

The D44 is not needed, but I went all out
