I'm looking at options for my 1996 Corvette with black leather seats. They appear to be the standard v. the sport version. The driver side is worn and I'm interested to know if anyone has replaced their seats with ones from a C5 or any other years or other models. Any pitfalls or things I should know? I really like the C5 sport seats so I'm looking to either find another black standard 96 seat and go the cheap route or seriously pursue a matched set of used ones from a later model. Maybe something from a salvage or eBay.

hmmm

I saw an early 90's with C5 seats. To be honest i like the C4 seats a little bit better my self. They have that wrap around feeling. Makes you feel safe and secure. Like be'n in a race car.

I wouldn't imagine that it would be to hard to insert the C5 seats. As long as you have the track. I'm sure it wouldn't be to hard to bolt the track down to the floor. Not sure about the wiring harness's though. That might be tricky.

:)

Some of the c5 seats have a known problem that turns 'em into "rockers".

I love my c4 sport seats, talk about lateral support. I tested a couple of z06's when I was shopping for my Vette & the seats were a dissappointment. Hope GM fixed this in the C6!

I think I'll stick with mine and recover them.

Forgive my question, what is a "rocker" affect on that seat?

Losening in the seating causing it to move around?

Thanks Rick

That's what I've heard/read. Something wears or loosens & they rock around. Sorry I can't be more specific, maybe ck out the c5 forum.

Dual Automatic Sports Seats

My 96 has Dual Automatic Sports Seats. They have 1 adjustable side support and 3 adjustable back supports.

I like the way the seats can be adjusted for a glove like fit. The side supports remove lateral movement in corners.

Don't know how hard it would be to integrate the controls into your Vette.

Later . . . . . .

Same here, great seats, support almost like a race seat.

If you are a tall person, the C5 seats will not work for you. They ride up to high.

These seats have been modified on the side bolsters to help support the driver in high G situations.

When he drives with a helmet on, he has to tilt his head to the side so he can fit. Caravaggio Corvettes did the work.
