I have a little more history on my car which shifts VERY hard. It seems that the previous ownder just lowered his '02 Z06 and found that after the car was lowered that his shifter was a little harder to operate. Since the 99 I currently have was lowered as well, what are the implications to the shifter with the car being lowered? As I understand it the shifter has shift rods that link back to the tranny to shift gears. If the car is lowered then the angle of these rods to the transmission would be latered and not straight back.

Are there any seals that I need to worry about around the shift rods? Is there a height adjustment to the shifter that I can do? I was told I would need a plate to adjust the shifter height so that the angle of the rods was correct.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I have been seriously thinking about returning the car to its stock height.

HI there,
This is incorrect.
No lowering has ANY affect on any part of the transmission shifter linkage. The reason is that the shifter, rod, and transmission are all bolted to the torque tube, and have no movement, even if the suspension is lowered, because it does not move.
Sorry, but there is something else there.

Thanks for the response. I had been pituring the whole thing wrong. I will have to look at this differently now.

Thanks again,

Leon

no disrespect, but that would mean going up and down step hills would affect the tranny.could it be the clutch?my 93 saturn started getting hard to shift, then got hard to go in all gears, very hard,i thought the trans-axle was shot,it was the clutch that was toast.good luck,Todd.
please keep the updates coming,im also curious.

Would a picture help?

I'll try to send you a picture of the drive train tonight.
May be your nuts are loose? :L :L

Changed the transmission fluid tonight with GM Synchromesh. Looks like it still have the original Dexron from the factory in it. Shifting it noticably better right after the change. Will see how she feels in a couple days of driving. May still be some adjusting to do.
