C5 DIC gone mad

Hey CAC members,

I just added some performance mods to my C5 (MAS airflow housing, twin K & N filters). The first time I took the car out after adding these mods the DIC went crazy after about 2 miles when I got on the gas. I saw most every warning come up and the check engine light come on. The most disturbing was the "service traction control" and "reduced engine power" messages, the car would only go about 30MPH and the engine sputtered a bit. After finding a safe spot to pull over, I turned off the engine let it sit for a few minutes and started it back up. The warning messages went away but the "Check engine" light stayed on. With full engine power restored I continued my test drive. The car seemed to perform well (very well) but the "Check engine" light was still on. I stopped at the store and turned the car off. When I came back to the car 10-15 minutes later and started it.....no messages and the "Check engine" light was off. Car seems fine now. I will take another test drive today.

Does anybody have any Idea what may have occurred or have experienced a similar DIC/engine melt down after installing intake mods. I'm thinking that the MAS airflow housing sucking in more air confused the computer and it took some time to sort it all out (at least that is what I hope it is) I hope I didnot do anything to mess up the car and its computer.

Over all I did notice a moderate increase in low end power with these mods.

I guess there's a lot to be said for the ole simple points, rotor & condenser ingnition system. Thats when you could get in there and work on a car !!!. When I check the oil in the C5 thees days I feel as if I have accomplished something.

Thanks

P.S. how do I post a picture of my car when making or responding to a thread ?
