I am new to corvettes, so forgive this question.
Since buying my first corvette a year ago, I have experienced the gear shifting to be rough. Certainly not the same as my BMW - a very smooth shift or even my lowly Cavalier another smooth shift.
Is the rough shift normal? Sometimes I need to re-clutch to get it in gear.

HI there,
Well, first I would need to know the mileage.
Next, syncronizers will take up to 5k to correctly break in.
Also, the shifter is silicone impregnated to reduce vibration eminating from the torque tube that the shifter is mounted to.
Has the shifter ever been adjusted to GM service guidelines???
Has the fluid ever been changed????
Please let us know, c4c5:hb

The mileage is about 6,700.
The shifter has never been adjusted and no fluid has ever been added.
It may be that it will take a few more miles to correctly break in?
this website is the best BTW.
Thanks!

Hi there,
It could be that you need a little more time.
Have you noticed that the shifter has become less notchy as your mileage has increased?????
Allthebest, c4c5:hb

Yes now that I think about it more. Just recently it seems to have eased up a little and has become less 'notchy'. It is gradual so I have never noticed the small improvements. So I guess I'll wait a few more miles then. Thanks
