I'm using the Delco PF46 filter, that replaced the Delco PF44. I change the oil and filter every 2,500 miles.

I seem to remember with Mobil 1 its 10,000 miles or one year which ever comes first.
IMO
Mobil 1 when they say it will last 10,000 miles they mean it and having used the stuff for many years it is as good or better then Mobil claims it is. I have torn down two engines that were run on mobil 1 and they were in much better shape with more miles then when I used to run Dino Oil and change every 2000-2500 miles.

When I had my 1999, I was changing the oil and filter every 2,000 miles. I decided to go 2,500 miles on the 2004.

So YOU are the reason for the shortage of sweet crude!! :rotfl Today's oils in today's engines will easily go 5,000-7,000 miles with no ill effects.... unless those 2,500 miles are at the race track. :D

Ok "Guy" lets strap Remo in to his nice white straight jacket and place him in a rubber room or a tire where house will work also….I have called the doctor and he will be on his way shortly..

Don't do that! How's he going to pay my oil change invoice if he's in confinement? :L

Remo... it is very sweet of you to offer. But you know how masochistic we DIY oil changers are ... you would be taking all my fun away :D

That’s ok we have his wallet and all his credit cards. Free Oil changes with the oil and filter of your choice…and free apple margaritas at applebee’s afterwards. :rotfl

Leon - you win the enormous prize for discovering the PF44/PF46 trick. I know a couple of guys in the Melbourne area. They'll be by to see you.

Can't wait to see my "prize"... ;)

Tammy - bo-ho-ho:cry 60 degrees. I hope you can survive that extreme climate. For gods sake - take it to the dealer and have them change the oil then invoice me.

Remo:cool

LOL, don't give Remo any more of his meds. He's funnier off them. :D

Lets get all things that are controversial in this thread. :D
While I am at it any one seen the news in Iran and Nukes today?

Lets see how about a thread about Corvettes being driven in the winter during a nuclear war with pictures of boats and what Oil and Oil filter are the best thread :D

Another perspective on this oil change milage. Short jumps , sure change every 2 to 3 k . If the engine is warmed up most of the trips.. 15 miles or more, 4 to 5 k on conventional oil will never hurt an engine. With synthetic 5 to 8k will handle it just fine. I change my oil every 5 to 6 k on my vette and that is really overkill because mine never travels lest than 15 miles.
Imagine if everyone would extend there oil changes according to the type of driving they do instead of every 2000 miles, the amount of oil we would save in this country. I really believe it could effect the price of oil.
Oh wait this was about oil filters.. Reno, did they check the flow capacity of the DW2001C5 filter? Some so called super filters restrict oil flow.

Oh Glenn - I'm not surprized that you haven't heard about the product attributes of the Super Race oil filters. You see Super Race Industries only wants their products used by people that can .......it's complicated so I won't labor the point. As for the DW2001C5 filter flow characterists - well the folds are designed so well that the flow through the filter has less resistance than the flow before and after. In fact the design is so good that it actually reduces the turbulance which makes oil overall more slippery. You asked about capacity. Well the DW2001C5 filter is "larger" than most. As a matter of fact it requires an additonal (6) quarts above and beyond your normal capacity. But it's well worth it. After all a C5 just can't get enough of that Mobil 1. So no matter what your demands are -runnning on the track, racing ricers in the street, parked at the local car show or just sitting in your garage. You can be sure that the DW2001C5 will rise to meet and exceed all your expectations for oil filter performance.

I googled super race industries, the oil filter part number you listed, etc, etc. It appears that you are even more full than the filter system you are describing. Have you got a link to that indescribably good filter system? Or is this just more of the same? :eyerole

Jim - you sound like a guy with discerning taste in oil filters and I can see you have excellant research skills. So I'll tell you what. I'll have the officials at Super Race get in touch with you.

Actually - I'm thinking of starting one called "Relamping Your C5". This one would be ideal for those guys who just can't get enough things to maintain.

Hi There, I Used the new Mobil 1 Extended Performance Filter and 5w/30w Mobil one oil this week. Was told that M1 filters are designed for Synthetic oil. Are the Ac delco designed for synthetic oil as well ? .......Thanks Dr C5

AC Delco filters are designed for both synthetic and conventional oil just like Good Year tires which were designed to hold both winter and summer air. <grin>
