C5 problems.....

One of my friends has a 2002 C5 that has had numerous problems. I told him that if he had a C3 like me that he wouldn't have these problems - just typical C3 problems!

It seems that when the doors close, lock and the alarm arms... the alarm goes off shortly thereafter. He has had the dealer replace the alarm system because of this malfunction. It still seems to have this problem intermittantly. I am thinking that its tied to the next problem.

The power locks have also had problems with electrical connection and have been replaced.

Most puzzling is the fact that the car will pop out of reverse when he backs up. He isn't dropping the clutch or anything wierd. This occurs while he is in gear, say backing up across a parking lot.

Has anyone heard about these problems or had similar experiences?

Hi there,
I would suggest that there is more here than meets the eyes.
I dont think that all of this is interrelated.
I would suggest a couple of things.
First, attempt to lock the car with the lock cylinder, not the remotes. See if that helps stop the activation. Also, if the panic button is hit, that could be, as I have seen that more than once.
Is the transmitter at least 30 FT away from the vehicle?????
If not, it should be to correctly perform the test.
Has there been any fluid changes to the transmission, or any work that involves removing of the driveline??????
As far as the shifting issue, I would first perform a shifter adjustment, which should be taken care of at the dealership.
Then, proceed with diagnosis.
There is too much here, to correctly diagnose, without specific details of the conditions.
