Maybe it’s me, but when I priced my 01 coupe in Kelly Blue book it looked low?

I know it depends on area and condition but it resale pricing in the used market seems to be all over the place with no rhyme or reason.

I ask because someone is thinking about making me an offer on my 01 (even though it was not up for sale) and I'm not sure what to ask for it, but in my head I'm already spending the money toward another C5.

I just bought it a few weeks ago from my best friend’s dad for 27K (45k miles and super clean) I thought that was a good deal, but when you price it on KBB comes up 26.5

You are right when you say C5 prices are all over the place. The price will depend alot on where you live. I would imagine that with spring coming (sometime) to the northeast, that resale prices would be fairly consistent across the area. I would think that this would be the time to sell. As for purchasing, I would look at Vettes in the south and west, particularly, Fl, and AZ. Prices seem to be really reasonable in both of these states as well as some others in the sunbelt. The cars may have more miles since they are often driven year-round. A Vette with extremely low mileage and well documented care will bring a good price no matter where you look, but as the new C5's become more and more scarce, I think the prices will stabilize. There are some really good deals out there with owners moving up to the C6. Some dealers are ovestocked with trade-ins. Good luck!

Check out ebay prices. I cked them out a couple a months ago and C5 prices were very low. They seem to be going up to a very high price now. I think it's the time of the year. C5 is a nice weather car and thats when people buy em.

The market is flooded with C5s, especially leased cars being returned for C6s. It's a buyer's market.

I get the "Corvette & Chevy Trader" and I'm always looking at comparative prices for my car. It seems that an '01 coupe, stock with less than 30K miles in very good condition is going between $29,000 and $33,000.

"Going" for that or "asking" that? Seems high if '99s are selling for $21-$23. Hell, we have a fully-optioned '02 convertible with 3800 miles on it and the best we can do is around $36k.

I've seen '01 asking as high as $36K with low mileage, My buddy bought an '01 last summer. It's a coupe, MSG with all options and auto. It had 22K miles, he paid $33,700 through private sale. But... it was a very clean vette.

I'm selling my 03 in oct. con'v-6sp .I was fortunate to find a private buyer that was willing to give a deposit 6mons. in advance. I'm selling it for 38k and feel like a lucky dog.

c5

i was working #'s on a c6 recently and the # on my 01 6spd 18k mile loaded coupe was/is 26-26.5k for a trade in (plus discount.)in talking to a wholesaler/auction guy who comes by the dealership i work at,that's the # for my car.he'd probably get 27-28 grand selling it to another dealer and they in turn would put it out there for 32ish."them's" the facts!!! your car w/40 something on it would probably bring 20-21.5 or so for trade in if it's loaded and in good shape, around here, anyway.i'm in upstate new york.

With that kind of mileage, considering that car is in very good condition, you should easily get $32K in the private market place. I would seriously consider listing it in the "Corvette & Chevy Trader" or any other trader before doing a trade in. The dealer is going to sell it for that much if not more. Seriously, I bought my Vette in May of '03, it had 13K miles for $34,600. I found out after the fact that the previous owner traded it in for a 50th Ann. coupe. He told me they gave him $29K for the trade and had it on the used lot at $37,900,

Tommy! Welcome to this forum. I would check local and national advertising to determine your Corvettes worth.

For six months I tried to sell my C5 but never received offers close to my asking price. It's only has 16K mi., garaged kept, all stock and in top-notch condition. The best offer I received was $28K. For that reason, I decided to keep it and do some upgrades (i.e. exhaust and air-intake).

The Blue Book is an average so take it as such. It does not take in consideration (in my case) color-options and the like.

my car

between actual money and discount,i would get 30-30.5k for my car on trade.plus the tax savings.but,i'm keeping my c5 and going to mod it a little and wait for the c6 improvements that we all know will be coming down the road!

resale

I guess I am assuming that it would bring a better price since its a 1 family car.

I purchased from my uncle who I know kept it in tip top shape even though it has 46k on it

Wrong guide!!!!!!!

Hi

Dealers only use a book called Galves period, all of the rest are meaningless.

I have never seen a dealer with any other book unless he wasn't a dealer.

A used car dealership will use other guides because they are much higher to show a person what a deal he is getting and when he is buying he whips out the Galves.

But this only shows what it should bring at auction and not what it actually does depending on mileage and condition.

NADA prices are often higher than Kelly Blue Book.

A vehicle is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it no matter what any price guide says it should be worth...some buyers will buy a vehicle no matter what someone says its worth...:D :beer

C5 Prices Again

Last on prices. I found dealers selling '02 convertibles highter than '04 coupes. The base is higher by the Corvette book.
