I've been told that it's been done, although I have not seen it done...
I installed some other seats in another vette I had and the biggest problem was the angle/width of the seat bottom mount. I had to make an adaptor plate for each of the 4 mounting bolts, but the orientation of the seat was off, twisted to one side a little and that made it too wide to travel on the tracks.

So, I'd do some careful measuring. Its not difficult to pull the seats. 4 bolts and its out. They even come out in sections. If it were me, I'd pull a seat from each car and do a side by side compareson and measure bottom width, the height of the back from the mounts, and the depth from front to rear.

A pair of C5 seats will be fairly costly, as would new c4 seats. You can get your old seats recovered with new foam. I did mine for $300 each....far less than the 700 to $1100 kits seen at vette stores or catalogs. I used marine grade vinyl because of its durability and strength instead of the high-maint leather that was too fragile for daily driving.
