just bought a 99 c5 and i seem to have a trans leak in center of car just in front of rear wheels (auto trans). any ideas what it might be ?

Hi there,
If my guess is correct, this is most likely the seal in between the differential and the transmission output shaft. This seal, if the car has sat, will take a set and leak when it is first driven.
If after driving for a few days, it still leaks, then the seal should be replaced.
The updated seal, available through GM, will repair your concerns.

c4c5specialist, did the updated seal make its way into the production run for 2003 cars?

Hi there,
The updated seal was implemented during the 2k2 model year.

thanks for your info, how expensive is it to have this seal replaced ?

HI there,
If I am correct, it will take about 3.5 hours to replace. Seal is about $25.
You should also have an alignment done, since the rear subframe is removed.
