its going to be close, and you might even win,(1/4 mile)is there anyone there that can tune your car?you will see a little more from the exhaust with a good tune.do you still have the stock run-flat tires?if not,its lookin good, can the other guy drive his car-good?have someone video it if you can.later,Todd.

mmmmmmmm i hope to killlllll him ... i have a new michelin tire i hope it's work ....

you just may win.thats what i was hoping, you dont have run-craps.you should get decent traction.dont let him cheat and jump you, then it will take a bit to run him down.is this a 1/4 mile or longer?i dont know about killin him,if you didnt have the hypertech programmer, replace that with a good tune and you have some power.and if you can tune before the race, hell ya.try to video it.i have a crap load of street videos from www.racingflix.com good luck, and do tell the results.go C5 blue, later,Todd.

thanks bor. i'll video it ... and send it here

hopefully you wont need a passenger, keep the wait down, when are you guys racing.i thought it was hard to find a tuner in hawaii,i can only imagine where your at,i was there in 90/91'.
later,Todd.

Z06 vs C5 modified

I have owned both a '97 A4, mostly stock, and a 2002 Z06, fully stock. The Z06 is much faster than the '97 was. However, I understand the best thing that you can do to improve performance without opening the engine is to improve exhaust flow. It looks like you have done that. The other big variable will likely be traction. I have quite a bit of trouble with wheelspin, even on a strip with traction compound. The '97 didn't slip as much. Even so, the Z06 runs about 0.8-0.9 seconds faster in the quarter mile, even with a marginal driver (me). I suspect that it will be close, but I would still bet on the Z06, assuming equivalent driver skill. Let us all know what happens.

hey DRTH,
i would take a guess and assume you had the 2:73 gear,i have the 3:15 and its like 2 different cars.a stock c5 with a 3:15 rear can really give the z a run in the quarter.like most c5s the advantage is the z does not have run flats, the slickest tire ever made,he got rid of them.stock c5 on run flats 13.2 @ 108.i dont like to debate, however the z is only .4,.5 faster at best.the thing that concerns me is he has the HPP,thats usually not good.hes probably only going to see about 25hp without a good tune, from the exhaust.if he had that,i would put up a weeks......better not say it,probably illegal.my friend has a Lambo orange ZO6 convertable.let the video tell the story, later,Todd.

my c5 gear end is 3.15 ....i think it's faster than 2.7 ....

with my moded and new tire ....will make me close to the z06

Hawaii 5 lo

The times that I talked about were for my cars at 2600 ft elevation. The fastest stock C5 that I have personally seen at my local strip ran 14.0-13.9. I ran 14.1, and I did have the 2.73 gears. My Z06 has run 13.4 with a relatively unskilled driver (me). I know of one other Z06 that has run about 12.9, but I do not know about what, if any, mods he had. I think that if I got some drag tires I would run about that time.

I'd take a guess and say if the Z owner is just an average driver you'll kill him from a dead stop race..and he'll wipe you off the face of the earth from a 40 mph roll on race.. (j/k)

Have fun..and let us know how it goes..

JB

A 2001 Z06 puts out about 377 rwhp.

With your mods, you should be putting out more than that.

All things being equal, you will beat the Z06.

Regarding roll-on competitions, it all depends what gear you are rolling on in; 4th is 1:1 in both cars, and again you should beat him, even from 40 mph.

The rear-end gearing obviously also matters.

Cheers!

I'd say stock 2001 Z06's put out 337 rwhp which you probably just accidently typed 377rwhp.

I've had both a 1999 C5 A4 and a 2001 Z06. The A4 will for the most part will take the Z06 off the line..

From a roll the Z06 will take the Automatic..no question in my mind

The z will win hands down. Sorry to say. Its way lighter, it does have 3.42 gears but with that m12 tranny it pretty much equates to 3.90's. I just dont see the c5 having a chance.

I have to agree...My 01 Z06 stock ran a 12.43@115 in the 1/4. My 02 has run a 11.98@117.63. gotta luv the Z06!!! :D

is that on the original tires?the fastest recorded time ive seen for the Z06 is 12.44.by recorded i dont mean all the b.s. storys in the kill sections.my friend has a 2002 Lambo orange Zo6 convertable(yep a vert),his best time was 12.68.he races in the brackets.car is stock.wish they would hurry up and race already.later,Todd.

hey JBsC5,
wow,i would love to run on that track your running on.all the drivers i know are very skilled drivers,as there avid racers.with drag radials a good driver can get a 1.8 60 ft.if your on run flats(like me)the very best is 2.2 60ft(average 2.3).our track is 50 ft above sea-level max.the problem is,its on a coral reef(moisture seeps thru)and the track is never preped.on fathers day a 7 second camero crashed at 145 mph, theres usually always a spin off the line or a crash.but even that dude Evan only got 12.2 in a(his)z06 and the new cobra was 12.3,same driver, same day,etc..what does a stock c5 run on that track you run on?its really hard to compair hawaii times to mainland times.
our track-2002 f-body(auto) 14.0,1999 f-body 6-speed WS6 with headers,13.7,stock 2001 mustang 14.3,stock WRX 15.2,my 1999 c5(auto)when stock 13.7.2001 zo6(stock)12.6,1991 vette L98 14.3.super charged 2002 viper 11.78.these are all cars i see run many times, some nights when the humidity is in the 90% range the times will be even worse.when military guys transfer over here, they think something is wrong with there car.i say welcome to paradise.those are some good times you got there.later,Todd.

Todd, I would like to clarify how I started the post : Re: Numbers for those with high skill levels  Thats not me..

There are tons of Z06 skilled guys running very similiar times..I'm not one of them. I've done tons of drag racing in my 1999 A4 with intake/pcm mod and exhaust ..running tons of high twelves..at 109mph but getting off the line well consistantly with a stick shift is pretty tough..(for me anyway)

I loved my 1999 A4 and it certainly would be a faster car dragging with me in it versus my Z06...but from a 40 mph roll ...its just no contest.

You might say..how do I know...?? The bottom line..I raced at the track with that 99 and beat many stick Shift C5's..with similiar mods..but when it came to a 40 mph roll on hitting the highway home..

I got beat. Just a fact. Rollons with the Stick is faster...

Don't get the idea I'm saying the auto sucks..because they don't. It just has a different area of better performance. (off the line performance unless the stick shift driver is well skilled. )

Hope this clears up any miscommunication Todd.
