Dropped a flood light on my c5 convertible windshield and broke it. I had a local installer who came out and promptly tore the weather striping trying to pry it up with a putty knife. I called the shop and they said it was common to tear the weather strip and there would be an additional 225.00 charge. I got a little upset and told them NOT to send the same tech out since it appeared he was in to big a hurry to do a good job. Can I get a copy of proper installion instructions to make sure they do it right? Are these instructions in my service manuals ( I bought the shop manual set from GM (3 books)) I hope the c4c5especialist can help me on this one.:)

IM c4c5especialist. I'm hoping you signed paperwork, and would hold this window repair shop to there original agreement. Extra money for there F up is not an option in my opinion. But what do I know. Good luck.

If you have the manual look in section 8 about page 770 of so. A lot of detailed info. Not that I;d ever attempt to replace one but you can believe the tech will have the info in front of him. sounds like he already screwed things up,and they may end up owing you.

Got the manual and did all the work except pulling the windshield out. The manual is really good on this one and there was no need for the guy to have torn the weatherstrip. The guy did no have a clue what he was doing. The company is sending another tech and a new weatherstrip. You can bet I will be there with my manual to make sure the installation is done right!

That is great news, sounds like things are on the mend. That manual was one of my best investments, now only if my 97 would appreciate in value !

Got the windshield in today... Replaced both reveal moldings weatherstrip and lower windshield. Total cost was 741.00 If you have to get your windshield replaced make sure it is done per the manual.
