I would NOT be surprised to see minor facelifts of the c6 occurring every 2.5 years.

Given the current costs for retooling the exterior panels, I would not expect frequent changes in the exterior. Hard to keep the car costs down when dropping a large wad on the cost of retooling molds.

WHY ???????

Facelift?

Why? Like Gorgon said, that's expensive, and they already put a lot of time, money and energy into R + D..... And produced a real nice ride.........

I suspect maybe the artist in you is hoping they adopt some of the body lines in those nice renderings you showed us some months ago before we saw the real thing...... your version was very nice.... but I do like the current product...

jazzlove;)

I agree that the costs would discourage renewing the policy we saw to different degrees during Gens 1 though 4. However, IF the Z06 has an Al frame, IF that frame's engineering proves solid, IF the cost of the production for that frame is not significantly different from the current steel HF rails ... I wouldn't be surpised to see a mid-life change in Gen 6 that uniformly offered the Al frame, started offering the currently-still-in-development 6 Sp Auto, or a manumatic of some type, plus other changes we aren't privy to.

If the C6 signals a Porsche-type policy of continuing improvement / refinement we may see many more changes than we saw during the C5 life - but most will be under the skin, IMO.

Not that I want to 'jack this thread but Longtimer mentioned the aluminum frame possibilities. I have heard the rumor of this improvement on the Z06/Z07/Blue Devil, but my real question is, how much in actual weight savings will there be?

An all aluminum frame does lower the weight considerabally, but i don't think it will make that much of a difference in overall performance. Unsprung weight is what makes the most difference in the feel of the car and that won't be changed all that much. One difference in feel between steel and aluminum is that steel has a tendency to soak up bumbs and creaks better than aluminum while aluminum is a lot stiffer and won't flex like steel does.
Keep in mind that nobody gave a **** about the C5, Not the Same with the C6. Keep an open mind and you will find yourself answering your' own questions.

The hard core performance version of the C6--call it Z07, Blue Devil, or whatever else you want but inside GM they call it "Z06" will have a structure with some aluminum pieces but it will not be totally aluminum.

Expect the car to come in at 2900-3000 lbs.
Expect 480-500hp. w/o a guzzler tax hit
Expect trans and diff coolers.
Expect more CF panels than was on the 04 Z06/Z16
The base car w. Z51 goes 190. Imagine what 480-500 hp will get ya?

Don't expect frequent face lifts of the C6.

I love the C6 they way it is I wouldnt do any kind of facelift, if I ever got one.

They will redo the holder but not the nose of the C6.
They will probably have to redo the nose to so they can redo the plate holder.
