I have driven in California for 30 years without a front license plate and have never been issued a ticket for it (even when stopped for other reasons)!

Not true. I got stopped for no front plate and was given a fixit ticket. I had to drive to Highway patrol office and show them the plate installed (with duct tape) before they would sign off on the ticket.corvetteconti said:some states will fine you ( around $95-$125) no points though and then make you put the plate on....yuk....other states, I believe california, will not make you put the plate on, if caught, they'll be happy to just keeping giving you the ticket for the cash![]()
Actually they drill the facia and it is bolted on.Bills03Coupe said:I just heard a rumor that California has just passed a law that all new cars must be delivered with a place to mount the front license plate. And with that being the case, all new C6's will be delivered with the UGLY front plate holder PRE-mounted on the car! Any truth to this?

For obvious reasons, all the auto testers photograph the car without the front plate or holder, and I never was able to determine how the great plate debate turned out. Maybe someone on Tom Peters' design team can tell us how the raptor fighter jet solved this problem (o.k., I apologize and will drop it---really, I am good guy, just couldn't resist that one.)

You 're right-they don't inforce the plate law very strickly. Since I got a ticket for no front plate in 1993 , I have not had a front plate on any of my cars and have never been stopped for it.mnl119 said:Turbo
While what you say is possible, I can't recall ever seeing a C4 out here with a front plate. Could be a coincidence (or a conspiracy). Seems odd that they would have a provision for cars with only one plate in the DMV code if all cars were issued with 2 plates "back to at least the 1940's."
I've also been driving out here for 3 years everyday with my 1993 Firehawk with no front plate. I've even been pulled over in it. Never got a ticket for it. Maybe they just don't enforce it.
