C6 Interior

I've been sitting here reading another post about an Audi how nice the interior is. I've personally never been in an Audi, but what I'm wondering is what is it people want to see in the interior of the C6. We all know the Rubbermaid interior of the C5 hasn't been to popular. I personally don't mind the C5's interior, but then again, when I think about it, it kinda resembles the interior of my S 10 as far as the plastic dash goes. There should be a difference between a Vette and S 10.
So what are your ideas in the C6 interior???

There is a good article in these forums somewhere that discusses this very topic. It was of a Dave Hill interview. He states that the Audi is the current standard for great interiors, and the rest of the companies are catching up.

I happen to agree with this. Those cars simply look great from the inside, and that's where we spend the vast majority of time with our rides. Let me find some of the other comments...

The C5 interior is genuine KIA trash. No other car that I know of that costs almost 60K has one quite so cheap and has seats that HAVE to be listed on the window sticker as Vinyl/Leather because there is more vinyl then leather.

I consider this issue to be much farther down on the priority list than Performance, Quality fit and finish, and value. Having said that...
Someone on another thread was concerned about the possibility of significant increased price if the interior is upgraded. I think the additional costs would be minimal and are probably already palnned any way. IMHO the much maligned 50th aniv. had the best C5 interior. All other C5s TO DATE have offered any dash-upper door pannel-console color you want, as long as you want black. Makes the interior look gloomy, stamped and unfinished. Even C1s, C2s, C3s and some C4s had more color inside. When I order a (red or gray or saddle or whatever) interior I don't want a black and (red or gray or saddle or whatever) interior. These pieces are very difficult to do a quality dye job on after mfg. A C5 interior with more interior color, some polished alluminum trim here and there, TWO cup holders, higher quality leather, Home Link, OnStar would make me happy (I don't need wood in my vette, that's for my dad's Cad).

I dont have a problem with the instrument cluster on the dash. I think that is very nice. My problem lies with the radio and climate control. They are a different color then the rest of the dash and stand out to look like they are from fisher price. I would love to see something with a little bit more pop to it. I definitley dont want to see wood trim in it either. That would look like crap in my own opinion. I currently own a 98 audi a4. I am getting rid of it to get a C5. The interior is perfect in it I think. I has wood trim but it looks good in that particular car. However, If anyone gets a chance, go to Audi's webpage and look at the interior of the A4 1.8 T. I think it looks cool, especially the dark grey band that wraps around the interior of the car. Just my thoughts.

Exactly. I hate to be the only guy who ever said anything nice about the 50TH Ann. Ed., but I do like the two shaded interior.

The wife's MB has a darker grey SWheel & dash and upper door with carpet the same shade. Seats and lower dash and lower doors have the lighter gray. Has wood that looks good in this car.

My Dad's DHS also has two toned interior along similar lines.

Though neither is a sports car, the look is tasteful. But the C6 should have no wood and NO Carbon fiber look in the interior either - screams rice burner. IMO

I certianly don't want to see wood in a Vette. That does nothing for me. But like others have said some polished aluminum trim and more colors than black. The instrument panel in the dash does look great, and that might be hard to improve on. Any ideas on how the instrument panel might look?

Ya, they're saying it will have the XLR type (or the same) touch screen control center for HVAC and Sound system. I am very concerned about that - ease? of control while driving.

I think GM will improve on the C6 interior because they know that people have been complaining about the C5 interior. They might actually try and make us happy. We will see.

C6 Interiors

The C5 does have it's good points and bad. I like woodgrain because it adds that old classic touch of elegance ie.(Jags, MG's and Benz) and it should at least be offered as an option. The Ken King interiors from Vette Essentials is an awesome touch:cool (a litttle pricey) but still nice. The vinyl offered by Mid American is nice but a little cheesy because it's all vinyl. Chrome accents would be nice and GM needs to look at these examples and other aftermarket work such as the lowrider industry and how color, two-tone, and side seat piping is being used and offer some of these things from the factory. There is nothing wrong with having raw power and looking good too!It all come down to each his own but GM could give each of us a little more to choose from if they are going to keep us in the $50+ and climbing arena!
