C6 muffllers

I was thinking the way the C6 mufflers go straight back if you could put glass pack mufflers like the cherry bomb in place of the stock ones. Might get too loud though.
 
There was a post in the ZR1 forum a day or 2 ago that had a video of the C6 with sound. The sound quality wasn't great but you could tell that the C6 sounds pretty good. Can't wait to hear one up close and personal.
 
I have read at least 6 different posts from attendees at the NCM when Hill brought two C6s, three were allowed to drive them. All raved about the car's performance and all commented on the almost-too-quiet sound out the exhaust pipes. Before you start looking up Borla's phone number, you better note that Hill warned that his group spent a LOT of time tuning the muflers for performance and he warned that aftermarket mufflers might actually hinder performance. It will be interesting to read the AM claims as they begin to offer C6 sound improvements.
 
I saw and heard the C6 at the museum. They are even quieter than the stock C5's. Looks like when they tuned them they could've got more of a performance sound. I was at the Pontiac GTO site and they sound good. A lot like the Borla Stingers.

Engineering has 2 issues with exhaust tone, platform limitations, and EPA.
The noise restrictions given to production vehicles is very stringent. Those limitations, along with limitations of the body, frame and noise all create the tones that we hear today.
Every single car has to pass these noise limitations. There is no option here, otherwise they cannot sell the car.
This is also why the aftermarket has so much fun with exhaust, because there is no regulations on noise for bolt on accessories.

I hear you, and this is usually my reply to exhaust critics of the quiet C5 (now C6 quieter). How can we explain the sweet sounds of the new GTO? I've heard it at a show and it reminds of the '90s Z28 - nice rumble.

Regardless, I agree that the Aftermarket has opportunity, if they get it right.
 
Companies like Triflow in Arizona have been engineering aftermarket mufflers for Corvettes and Porsches for years without hindering the performances of those cars. Its just a bunch of BS coming from someone who doesnt want you to "mess with his baby"!!
