Just wondering if anyone has heard if the new runflats for the C6 will come in the 17 and 18" diameters for a C5? I'm thinking the ones for the new Z51 would be a much more American alternative to the Michelin Pilot ZPs I am considering. :pat

HI there,

There has been rumors to this but I have not seen anything yet as far as revised tires.
What I might suggest is that you check with your local Goodyear retailer.
They usually have the latest tire information, sometimes faster than others.

I have asked Goodyear about C6-type run-flats in the C5 sizes. I have yet to get an answer. To me that means they may have been thinking about it but haven't decided.

Then GoodYear needs to decide soon and start making C6 style run-flats in the C5 size or a lot of us will ignore your previous run-flat report and buy quieter, better riding run-flats from somewhere else - like Michelin.

With 22K+ on my 03, the rears are getting close to replacement time and they are getting louder every day (just like the F1 EMTs did on our 98). I'm leaning toward the Zero Pressure Michelin tires already. I do not want to use 'regular' tires since I want the run-flat capability on any car I have that does not have a spare.

BTW, my 04 CTS-V has GoodYear F1 SuperCar tires in run-flat configuration and no spare. What is GoodYear waiting on?

:_rock My point exactly.

I don't know if Goodyear has noticed, but the C5Rs are running Michelin and are faster than they've ever been - they haven't lost their class yet since changing.

They lost Lemans last year on GYs.

So, if their goal is to alleviate my patriotic guilt at buying a superior French tire by not providing an equivalent (or close) American product, well, they've succeeded. :(
