You dont' have to be a C6 owner to be down with that! But I'd much rather see the effort put towards removal of the dubious safety inspection program.

regarding elimination of front plate....out here in Oregon we have photo radar. Just another fun little Orwellian way to raise revenue by shortening the yellow of a light and tagging citizens with an unearned ticket. You better bet the govt won't ever let loose of front plates out here......

Is there an ongoing petition for Maryland?

I have been driving Corvettes in Maryland with MD tags for nearly 12 years and have never had a front tag on the car. I drive it daily on a commute to VA. I do have vanity tags and if questioned can always say that the front tag was stolen.
