C6 Questions?

I am interested in purchasing a C6 and would appreciate feedback on several concerns I had when the C5 came out. At that time I was employed as a product service training instructor for STG and had access to that vehicle. I had the C5 to do dealer visitation for my ASEP students when I noticed two things that convinced me it was not a daily driver and therefore not the car for me at that time.

Condition 1: Clutch pedal effort; while driving through Pontiac and experiencing many traffic lights I found the pedal effort to be troublesome and if I get a Vette I prefer a manual transmission. No thanks on the new 6L80; I still prefer a manual transmission.

Condition 2: A resonate vibration coming from the hatch area responding to new concrete that had a rippled surface; this boom related vibration caused the cabin to vibrate in sympathy with this forced input frequency. This condition created a pressure on the ears that was so severe the BOSE system could not ease the situation.

From what I can gather these conditions have been addressed in the C6. Has anyone experienced what I am referring to? And, if so, can you state that the C6 has succeeded in alleviating these conditions?

One more point; I am considering the MAGNETIC SELECTIVE RIDE CONTROL and the Special Paint option on Black. I am settled on the 1SB PEG but have no way to evaluate the MRRTD (I am looking for best ride characteristic) or the paint option. I assume the paint has an additional clear coat but cannot find any creditable information on this RPO.

Condition 1: The C6's has less clutch pedal effort.

Condition 2: The noise is less but it is still there on some types of concrete road surfaces.

Personally I like the Z51 package.

C6's are very nice riding, hopefully you will be in 1 in the near future.

Later . . . . . .

MagRide is sweet.

Tint Coat Option for Black...????

Is there a tint coat option (+$) for black as Keith 61 suggests? I thought the extra cost option was for Yellow ($750), Blue ($350?) and Mag Red ($350?) only.....

I was told by a salesman that there was not a special paint option for black however when I last visited the Chevrolet web site the “Build Your Own” feature allowed the addition of that RPO. Previously, when in this segment, I was not able to select “Special Paint” because the radio button was not active. I could have been trying to select this option before the information packets finished loading from the previous selection or the program needs tweaking. Your account is probably correct regarding the special paint option being only available on Yellow ($750), Blue ($350?) and Mag Red ($350?) as this agrees with the salesman’s statement.

I know exactly what you mean about the "Build Your Own" site functionality...it is a bit clubby. I routinely experience the same thing....but it only adds the premium charge for those other colors.

There is NO Black paint option.

Clutch is nice and easy.
No rattle or roll. I did get the vert. I believe it's important to get a higher (new) vin#. There as been changes (tweaks) to the C6 in the past month.

I just got a new 'vert. I did have a coupe. I really dis-liked the rear window view and the over all look of the coupe.

Changes I've noticed in the higher vin#'s.
1. Feet space changed in the drivers area. Square box rather than tapered at the drive pedal and clutch. (more room. now my feet don't hit)
2. New and better and positive steering.
3. Some tweaks on the Z51 option. Much better ride feeling.

Cheers!
