C6 roof recall

This appears to be an extension of the previous roof recall. My '06 has already had the roof replaced. Doubt I'll get the recall unless the replacement roof is also bad.

Vette Roof

I saw that yesterday. Anyone on a bike, like me, had better get around a Vette then, huh?:ohnoes

The earlier action was advisory, not a recall. GM is probably making it official this time to sidestep a Fed mandated action this time. GM should do the right thing right away to avoid this crap. I had three roofs on my 05 from the previous advisory. Even fixed roof z06s are involved this time:mad

As usual, Tuna's right on this.

Further...there seems to be developing confusion on the issue.

The current roof recall applies to both Targas and fixed roof coupes (Z06). The reason for that that is that the top "skin" comes "unglued" from the top frame and this can occur regardless of bodystyle because in both cases the skin is bonded to the fame. It's just that on coupes, the top frame can be removed(and, hopefully, the skin comes with it), whereas on a Z06, the top frame is fixed in place.

In any event, I think it's freakin' ridiculous :nono that GM has to do this twice. The first fix should have been engineered properly such that it solved the problem.

Imagine of one of these tops came off then sliced off the head of a motorcyclist following behind.
Sheesh.:(

Hey Tuna....what'd you do with all those old roof skins?:boogie

"it's freakin' ridiculous :nono that GM has to do this twice." Really.... and I'm wondering why it took them six months after "bankruptcy proceedings" to re-organize management! Jeeze, I hope they get it together SOON!:W

Geeesh - will wonders never cease. Thanks.:beer

I guess my dealership is using them on the roof of his service department to protect the real roof from hail. :boogie

Good thing my '08 is a convertible - if that roof blows off, it will probably be my fault and not GM's.
