OK, everything I read abaout the new Vete is the same.........what in the :confused were they thinking when they put a standard GM steering wheel on this new car. It sucks and every car mag. says so and I agree. If this site and the C5/C6 Registry are so Influential, maybe we can get GM to fix this in the near future. Lets put some :mad heat on them :duh

I wrote a message about this last month. I agree - should have modern controls on wheel. The GM rational is geeeeee" It Is a sports car!!!!" I have had many sports cars and some how don't get my hands wrapped up in the wheel controls. Come on GM - get modern and up date the wheel in 06 !!!

What I don't understand is fine if they want to put the standard steering wheel than fine, but why is it that you can get a Malibu with radio controls on the wheel but not the Vette. Same steering wheel just without the controls on it. I don't understand that one, but I still like the car.

My C 6 is ordered and while the steering wheel on the car is not my first choice it is not bad. I have performance driven a C6 and was comfortable with the wheel and could clearly see the instruments ... that said I noticed the Zo6 write up in the new Motor Trend and the interior picture showing the steering wheel for that vehicle NICE maybe an aftermarket addition to my car on down the road. Controls on the steering wheel, I've had cars with them and without them and no big deal. There is so much to like about the C6 I can live with the wheel no big deal. Take care Jack

It could have been worse. The 1976 Corvette used the same steering wheel as the Vega.

Those complaining should take the time to actually look at the steering wheels offered by Chevy on its other car lines. The Corvette steering wheel is not shared by any other car and has a slimmer look than the C5 steering wheel. It's actually pretty amazing that they can get the center cap as small and still have an air bag in it.

This Thread reminded me of one from the past ;LOL
Sorry, but to know me is know my humor... And Rain's imagination ;)

With the touch screen, I think steering wheels controls go way beyond nice-to-have, to a safety issue. The car demands attention to the road, not searching for a 'button' somewhere on a flat panel. (See later Buick Riviera, which is NOT a driver's car.)

Voice commands are not a total solution, either.
