Has anyone had a Procharger installed in their C6? If so, what are your impressions? Is the unit quiet on the highway? Have you had any problems with it? Will a Chevy dealership install it? What kind of money did it cost installed? Any input much appreciated. Thanks!

I just checked out the Procharger today..The model with the larger intercooler cost $6500 plus $1800 installation. I'm just quessing that a chev dealer would not install for various reasons..I have a 04 C-5 Corvette.. I really don't need all that power so I might not do it..But you never know, a few weeks ago I thought I'd never own a Corvette.. I guess for me it depends how the wind is blowing that day..(grin) Also I might add, don't go heresay..
check with your dealer on any voiding of any warranty..

i have also looked at the procharger hopefully have one installed by july but any ways 6500 plus about 3000 for installation and another 2500 for bottom end work makeing sure the you dont throw a rod but ultimately ati procharger with 7 pd. pully stock ls2 gives 560 to 570 at rear wheels and has no problems with blowing up the car if taken care of however with over 500rwhp you want to get a stage 2 clutch or dual disk hardened out put shaft and maybe even differential and tranny brace and dont forget to change the oil in the procharger

My friend has one on a C5 and all I can say is HOLY SMOKE BATMAN! He can smoke the tires i n 4th gear at about 90 mph. Incredible. I am torn between two lovers. I would really like the Procharger now but I really want the Z06 when my name comes up.

REPLY: Carol, I understand that at idle, they whine. Im hoping to hear one in operation soon so i can determine if its going to be a real drawback or not. Fortunately, the rear tires will act as a 'saftey valve' and spin which ""SHOULD"" prevent anything from breaking in the event too much power is put to the ground from an over-zealous Power Guru . Next week, im getting CAI, Headers, hi flo cats, 'x' , catbacks, hi flow (FAST brand) Intake, more aggresive Cam, and 160 f. thermostat. That should add very close to 100 rwhp gain. Heck, that might be enough without going real crazy. Dave.

REPLY: P.S. You may want to have a look at this months 'Vette' magazine ; theres a featured article on the Vortech SC which delivers 189 additional h.p. and can be installed for a total of $8500 by www.AACorvette.com (in California).

Vortech makes superchargers for multiple applications, and I am impressed by the fact that some factories (Ford, for one) have chosen Vortech for factory-installed and warrantied 'chargers. I had one installed into a Crown Vic for less than $5K total. I can't speak to the cost on a Corvette. It did whine at idle, but not a bad noise; more like a reminder of its potential. The offensive noise was from the add-on aftermarket high-pressure fuel pump. The unit did a lot for a small V-8, though I heard the new owner "blew up the engine" after I sold it. Who knows how he treated it...
