C7 Corvette Stingray Attacked with Paint Stripper

I guess it's safe to say that people in Hoover, Alabama don't have anything better to do than to run around throwing paint stripper on cars.

Someone at zero2turbo.com stumbled upon a black C7 Corvette Stingray sitting in a parking lot in Hoover, Alabama that had fallen victim to vandalism by paint stripping. Check out the photos and link below:

Hoover woman's 2014 Corvette Stingray 'mutilated' with paint stripper; $3,000 reward offered

HOOVER, Alabama – Renee Hughes' daughter was the first to see it.

"The look on her face said everything," Hughes, a Hoover resident, told AL.com "I had no idea what I was about to walk into. She just went into hysterics."

What Hughes' daughter saw was the paint melting off of Hughes' 4-month old black 2014 C7 Corvette Stingray. Sometime the previous night, a vandal had taken a spray bottle of high-strength paint stripper gell and splashed it all around the car. The acid was so strong, it seeped through the car's side panels and destroyed the rims, the tires, and the car's brakes, according to Hughes.

Hughes said she told her daughter to calm down. "It's just a car. We aren't hurt," she said, and called 911.

But the car was hurt. Hughes described it as "mutilated."

She took the Corvette to Premier Chevrolet's body shop, where she said the staff was stunned that anyone would destroy a car in that way, and at the extent of the damage.

That was last Friday morning. While the staff at Premier Chevrolet has been tearing the car apart and building a list of parts they'll have to replace (the dealership also loaned Hughes a car, even though she didn't have a rental car plan on her insurance, Hughes says), police have been looking for suspects, but have little to go on, according to Hughes.

It left me thinking the root cause was "personal," not an act random vandalism.

Since no mention of spouse, wonder if there was a brutal divorce. But the evicted tenants are probably POIs.
