I finally got the chance to stop by and see if the car was still there, or if it had already been sold

I walked the showroom area for 10 minutes and saw some outstanding cars ($30K up to $299K for an original L-88 convertible)

I then asked the salesman if they still had the car (thinking that it may be back in service / detail or somewhere closeby)

He walked me to the back corner of the warehouse showroom, and back behind 2 other cars, shoved up against the wall, was a dirty, dusty, aerobody callaway ZR-1 (CR-1)

Salesman claimed that the front fiberglass had some stress cracks (from previous owner) so it had been undergoing some repairs and the car had yet to be detailed

Car was complete, screaming for some leather treatment, door hinges squeeked bad (dry), but overall it was intact

Things I noticed were:

OZ rims with good tires
Aftermarket Coil Over Suspension
Brembo Brakes with stainless brake lines
Dual exhaust out the center of car (no spare tire)
Big Roll bar with racing belts
Aftermarket throttlebody (bigger)
Callaway Corvette decals on hatch window showing 475 HP

Saleman did not know what internal mods had been done on the engine to get it up to 475 HP, but he did state that they did have all of the documents in the cars file

Asking price = $59,000

I will stop back by after it has been detailed so I can hear it run

Later,

Ray

Ray, thanks for taking the time to stop by and look at the car! :upthumbs

with the roll bar, brembo brakes, and center exhaust, I am reasonably certain it is NOT the same car (I thought it might be) from the Mid-West that was offered @ $45k

Are those items worth $14k?? The one for sale in the Mid-west had 12k mi on it and may have been a screaming deal :eek

Are you thinking about buying it??
C'Vette Mike may take your B2K as a trade!

Your car and a few stacks of $100's and you may have a great deal...

The CR-1 at Corvette Mike's has 12K miles on it also

I figured that i would spend close to 20K to send my car back to Old Lyme to get the aerobody, paint, hood blisters, wonderbar, and maybe the mega's, and that would only put me up to a little over 400 hp

Add that to the 30K I have in #36 right now and i'm real close to the 50K range

If the CR-1 was for sale in the 40's, I might be tempted to snatch it up, but for 59K.....a little to rich for my blood, expecially after I just bought my wife the SSR she had been dying for

Who knows,

Here are some pics of the other car that was offered @ $45k

If it wasn't for the center exit exhaust you mentioned, I would really be leaning towards thiking they were the same car(s) :confused

Wow, other than the exhaust, it looks the same

The car in SoCal has a California Plate that i believe said "475 HP"

The center exhaust was kinda cool looking, like looking at 1/2 of a circle with a slight gap in the center

How many of the CR-1s were made, and did they all come with the OZ rims ?

With the "Open Road Race" stickers on the windows, i'll bet the car is a beast at speed

Hopefully they will clean the damn thing up so it can really represent

If you have the last four digits of the serial # of the one @ mikes I can tell you if it is the same one as pictured. I was offered the one pictured for $40k but I thought that was a little stiff.
