I finally got the chance to stop by and see if the car was still there, or if it had already been sold
I walked the showroom area for 10 minutes and saw some outstanding cars ($30K up to $299K for an original L-88 convertible)
I then asked the salesman if they still had the car (thinking that it may be back in service / detail or somewhere closeby)
He walked me to the back corner of the warehouse showroom, and back behind 2 other cars, shoved up against the wall, was a dirty, dusty, aerobody callaway ZR-1 (CR-1)
Salesman claimed that the front fiberglass had some stress cracks (from previous owner) so it had been undergoing some repairs and the car had yet to be detailed
Car was complete, screaming for some leather treatment, door hinges squeeked bad (dry), but overall it was intact
Things I noticed were:
OZ rims with good tires
Aftermarket Coil Over Suspension
Brembo Brakes with stainless brake lines
Dual exhaust out the center of car (no spare tire)
Big Roll bar with racing belts
Aftermarket throttlebody (bigger)
Callaway Corvette decals on hatch window showing 475 HP
Saleman did not know what internal mods had been done on the engine to get it up to 475 HP, but he did state that they did have all of the documents in the cars file
Asking price = $59,000
I will stop back by after it has been detailed so I can hear it run
Later,
Ray
