Regarding the Callaway Display space that has been offered to the Callaway Owners Group at the Natl. Corvette Museum ( http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85778 ), a few owners were talking about this and the subject of its content came up...

If you could, please take a moment or two and reply to this thread with what you would like to see in the "Callaway Case" at the NCM - The case we will have avail., is approximately 68" long and 42" high.

Also, please indicate if the item(s) you would MOST like to see in the case are avail. by you to loan to the museum for a specified period of time.
(Case is kept under lock & key by the NCM).

Thank you in advance for your participation and feedback on this important prospect & Thank you for all the emails, offering items! :upthumbs

Fellow Owners and Enthusiasts - I have some VERY EXCITING NEWS that I am certain you will ALL appreciate.

This afternoon, after about a year of off & on discussion, the National Corvette Museum (NCM) responded favorably towards putting together a display case for Callaway Automobilia, etc.

If you have ever been to the NCM, you may have seen the four or five glass cases as you transition from the tour hall, into the Mobil-1 Spire - they house various Corvette memorabilia and such - we have been offered space in one, to kick-off the celebration of Callaway Cars 20th year of Corvette Heritage and Performance

Oh behalf of the I ask that if you have someting unique, that might be suitable to display in this case, to consider loaning it to the museum for this display. (**One of-a-kind items are not suggested - possibly a COPY of the original)

It is my hope, that we can have this display unveiled by the NCM's Labor Day B-Day bash in September.

So, what do you think??

If you have any questions about this, or to suggest items for display, please drop me a note - as your point of contact for this display.

Thanks Chris

...it is perfect timing for a
display of Callaway memorabilia, as 2007 will be the 20th Anniversary of
the introduction of the Callaway. The case we will have open is

Hi Chris, I appreciate all the hard work and time you put in. Tough question with the space allowed. Rams horn for sure and maybe an intercooler...most people think thats the turbo..LOL and we should show them a turbo also. Alot of the plaques on the interior with the callaway name on them...maybe a rim and tire combo....how about a constant running video of the twin turbo callaway corvette video that callaway cars made...maybe a car rippin down the quarter mile...hopefully more people respond with some great ideas

Clif, some of those items *might* be avail. - fingers x'd :cool

As far as the video - I will add that to the list, as you have seconded that idea to run a DVD :cool

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback - it is greatly appreciated! :beer

It might be cool to see some of the prototype Callaways. Or maybe the 2 run-flat Callaway Vettes.
EDIT: Sorry, I just re-read the size dimensions, I thought it was in feet, not inches.

I have a Callaway jacket I am willing to donate. It's too big for me and is in great shape.

Chris, I'm sure the nice people at the NCM would give your garage a break and store your B2K in the big yellow dome!! It's not like you ever drive it anyways!!

Seriously though..... I like the idea of playing a DVD... I think the Sledgehammer video would be a good one to be playing.

CHRIS, YOU DA MAN

Without your efforts, none of this would be happening! How cool is this. Looks like you'll need to edit content for the case!
The streaming video is a great idea, people love action verses static.
We definately need the specific Callaway motor parts as art of the machine.
Since I'm working on their special projects I think they would approve special embroidery of the logo.
All in all this is great and kudo's to Chris, so all owners get on board for this!

Thank you guys - I appreciate not only the efforts and ideas, but I also appreciate VERY MUCH, your kind words :cool

After a long day, I am just getting in from work and am pleased to see some great ideas - Every idea presented here will be looked into for whether or not it can be done :cool

Again, we are looking to do this display, the begining of Sept. for Labor Day :cool

...stay tuned and please, keep your ideas coming! Chris

A lot of great ideas! Thanks again Chris for your work on this!! :upthumbs I also think somehow a Callaway display needs something with Sledgehammer! A streaming video sounds like a great idea if workable? I probably don't have anything for the display. Haven't been collecting as long as some of the guys here! If we have a list of whats needed would help if I can! :upthumbs

Folks, this may be happening SOONER than LATER :cool :upthumbs

Today, the NCM Staff asked if this could be set up in August, prior to the Labor Day Birthday Event the NCM hosts.

Please, if interested in loaning items for this, reply here, in this thread -

*Items will be avail. for loan for at least one year - maybe longer :cool

Details on sending the items for collaboration will be posted here, by this weekend - Thank you to EVERYONE who has offered support for this idea, this is going to be HUGE! :upthumbs

I think it would be good to display the Program book from the Special Collection XX @ Bloomington Gold. Being the star of the Special Collection was a pretty big deal putting Callaways center stage a show that large!

Chris, I'm sure you've got like 50 of those books or I would be more than happy to send my own. ;)

Thank you Reuben - you are right - that book BELONGS in there :upthumbs

Looks like the date for assembling this will be in mid-August.

If you have items to send, the information will be posted this weekend to ensure arrival before that time.

Thanks again! :beer

Folks, today I had a VERY GENEROUS offer made by an owner who offered to send an item or two :cool

The list is getting VERY impressive! Please post/reply if you have anything else for this - Thanks! :beer

Chris, sounds like you are getting a good amount of stuff...you're going to have to have the museum add some more display space or clean out that whole hallway leadin to the Dome for Callaway stuff!!

Chris, I have no 1/18th finished models at the moment. I have a C12 dash plaque and 1/64th pewter C12 model that was given away at the intro at the International Auto Show. An exact copy of the LM front emblem, 6 different (unbuilt) 1/64th kits, and a completed 1/64th LM from Starter. I would be happy to share.

Mike, anything you feel comfortable contributing for loan would be appreciated - please check out the list on p.1 and see if anything would be duplicated (I doubt there would be :cool )and download the form at the top of p.2, mailing the item(s) to the address listed.

Thanks for your support! :beer
