Callaway Single Mass clutch conversion kit

Hmmm... a hydraulic slave cylinder like the one in the C5? That's news to me. For the C4 era the ZF6 & 4+3 transmissions all had externally actuated cylinders. Even the Camaro/TransAm used the "same" setup with the externally activated cylinder that pushed on the clutch fork. A conversion to an internal unit confuses me too. :confused The C5 employs an internally activated slave cylinder that rides on the input shaft to the trans. It requires the removal of the "torque tube" and trans to get to it in the C5 cars. I guess GM's thinking on that is that a driver will burn through several clutches before any of the hydraulics will fail (therefore the more difficult service routine) To explain it a little better- in so many words, the C5 slave cylinder acts as the throwout bearing also.

Not sure what I should do know. If Callaway thinks the kit requires a hydraulic throw out bearing then something else in the kit could be wrong. These are the kind of problems I'm trying to aviod. Having to mail incorrect parts back and the hassle.....

Call back, ask to reference another (SuperNaturals) invoice for what part / kit was used and order that - Not sure why there is confusion over the parts but I understand about your concerns since you are overseas.
Keep the faith :beer

I agree. I think they might of misunderstood what "generation" Corvette you were speaking of. My part # on my SuperNatural single mass setup from Callaway (off my invoice) is C4051. I just replaced my master and slave cylinder and the slave was certainly the "C4" style one.

Where did you buy the Mcleod flywheel and clutch? part numbers?

You can get McLeod clutches from McLeod Industries. Call 714-630-2764 and ask for George Kohler. Please, tell George I suggested you call.

The system I use in my C4 Coupe was bought as a "package" similar in nature to the way Callaway sells its kit. There were no problems with flywheel thickness. The aluminum wheel, is quite light and allows the engine to rev quicker but it's not so light one has problems getting the car launched during normal street driving. The McLeod pieces have proven quite durabable behind an engine of 500hp.

Does anyone have any information on the Callaway Single Mass clutch conversion kit? Such as price, brand of flywheel (weight), etc....

anyone have the kit installed? How do you like it? Does the ZF make noise with the clutch out and the car out of gear?

thanks
robert
Robert, Over the weekend, I heard & drove a car with the Single Mass conversion - Outside the car, you could ever so slightly hear "a little" noise - nothing that would demand attention - I was listening for it, and when I focused upon it, I could hear "some" noise - VERY VERY little...

Inside the car - A convertible, I did not notice any ill effects from the conversion, NONE. You could not hear it at all - even with the top down.

One thing for sure, the car took off like a fighter jet! freely revved and did everything thet Callaway Cars said it would :cool

Hope this helps :v

thanks chris... After talking to a few people i deciede on a McLeod clutches single mass flywheel kit.
