Why did Callaway stop installing/using the twin-turbo's in the Corvettes? When was the last year for them?

1991 was the last year for the B2K twin turbo corvette. I think with the LT1 and the ZR1 there was not a need for the Callaway as a factory option.

As Arnold stated, the last year for the Factory Twin Turbo option was 1991 :cool

There were a handful more made afterwards, including the two Super Speedsters and the other TT ZR1 :lou

Thanks guys.:cool Was there a reason that Callaway stopped installing the Twin-Turbo's? just curious.

Per Reeves at the Special Collection Bloomington Gold Seminar;
Once Chevrolet developed the new motor, size, configuration, new research and developement, resulting in new retail costs etc., Callaway decided to go the supernatural ( naturally aspirated ) route.
Then transport ( beam me up Scotty ) 15 years later when he saw modern supercharging size power improvements he wanted to pursue his engineering expertice to "move on". (Per our dinner conversation over a martini)!

To add to what Paul correctly stated, the Twin Turbos never returned, as packaging constrictions have made it impossible to do this and remain emissions compliant.

By the letter of the law, the twin Turbo cars others have put together over the past decade or so, are not compliant to the Fedearl Standareds, versus the ones Callaway Cars engineered in the 80s. The new SuperChargers remain compliant.

Reeves & Peter Callaway told me this past year, they hope for a time when the playing field is leveled a bit. You can read that interview in your Corvettes at Carlisle Event Program from this past year :w

Thanks guys for awnsering my question.:cool Will have to read the interview again.:beer
