Got mine last April

Bought my 86 from E-Bay as shown in the pic. Rest inside is original. Has 82K miles but not a Z51. And of course the Lumbar Support System doesn't work.

How do you add a pic. ?

Nice Vette...
I was wondering how I can add a pic. of my Vette like you have under your name in the Threads ?
Thanks,
John

Mods. Whew. Might be easier to list what's still stock :).

1986 Vette, 140k miles. Lots of stuff was wearing out, so most things got replaced with non-stock stuff.

Things you can see from the outside:
- 1993-6 17" wheels
- brake-duct lower front valence (going on RSN)
- brushed-aluminum Vette-logo pedals (ditto. old ones were worn and slippery)
- RD-Racing CrossBar
- glovebox "pouch" kit replacing the breadloaf
- 5-point harness
- fire extinguisher kit (driver's seat underside)
- nearly-full set of poly bushings
- "Wheelskins" two-tone wheel cover ($35 beats $350 for a new wheel...)
- PowerEffects catback exhaust
- "Corvette Action Center" window clings - the important stuff!

Things you can't so easily see from the outside:
- 93+ hood prop rod upgrade
- 91 roller block with Accel/Lingenfelter intake, Lingenfelter cam, ZZ3 crank, LT1 pushrods/lifters, Comp Cams rocker arms, GM Perf. valve covers, and more. Don't think there's a single original piece left on the engine other than the PS pump, AIR pump, MAF and air filter housing, and AC stuff.
- TRACO headers & custom Y-pipe
- custom MEMCAL by Jeff
- TPIS custom shocks all around
- underhood light cutoff switch
- interior aux fan switch

Think that's it.

Most of my mods are performance mods. I have a couple appearance mods.

all performance mods although the lady that owned it before me upgraded to the 88-90 17" style rims.

I upgraded the mufflers on the 85 to megaflows with the lt1 style tips, it sounds really mellow and all polished stainless steel, it was a performance and looks mod, since when you are on the road all any one sees is the rear.

I bought mine fully modded - all performance except for wider wheels (275 front 315 rear), shortened rear axle means the rears don't poke out from the arches, lowered, and rollbar.

Engine's got loads of stuff - based on a 383 LT-1 supercharged with cam/heads/fuel management.

I prefer the subtle approach - make it look different but not tacky. Congratulations on all your rides, they look great.

Does removing the MAF screen really do anything for performance ?
I have heard it doesn't do anything alone. Also, what is a K&N Open Air Box ?
Thanks

Thanks. You can add a picture (called an Avatar) by clicking the "User CP" link at the top of the screen, then selecting "Edit Avatar." Mine's a custom one (obviously :)). BTW - it's a picture of me and my car in front of the Vette factory...

you cut your air filter lid so the filter isn't impeded with air flow from all the covering of the lid.

looks like this.
28788.jpg

39 CFM Great Air Flow

Precision Machined

The stock 1985-96 air filter lid and is opened up in the center to a precise, flow-tested dimension. The result is greater air-flow and more power. To realize even greater gains, install a K&N Air Filter.
you can buy it here from ecklers for 59.99 or cut your own.
http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?dept%5Fid=1178&pf%5Fid=28788&mscssid=A5L9A6CXNBGR9NN942TK8BK66TAW8915

cutting the screens out of the MAF enables the car to utilize alittle more airflow which returns a few more HP. with a K&N filter, cut lid, and MAF descreened i would guess that makes close to 15 more hp. also look up TB Bypass and do that while your at it and you'll have a solid 15 HP at operating temperature.

Couldn't agree more Ken :cool No offense to anyone :w

Should have also said, that without exception every single car shown here are absolutlely first class with the mods done! Just BEAUTIFUL :beer :pat

Hey Rich, are there any pics of your car on here anywhere? Love to see some
:w

See sig below -- some exterior, interior & performance mods :D

Pix of my car? None yet, really. Soon, I hope. I have some minor cosmetic stuff to do after the mechanic finishes... I'm going to actually (gasp) put some of those fake braided steel hose covers under the hood. With everything else looking nice, there are a couple hoses (like the coolant line behind the plenum and the breather hose from the pass. valve cover) that just don't look right in dull black. Time for some fake lines and connectors for them! Maybe they'll reflect some heat away from the hoses, too :).

Sounds cool. Where did you find those at? Lookin' forward to pics :) Is your car still not on the road yet :confused

very very nice jeff. you have done all the upgrades that i want except the dash which i already have mine being a `90. but i have the saddle brown stuff i dont mind but do not like. mine is red with the brown interior. i like red so red on red would be my fav. the other thing i would do is change the nose cone but not the ass. i like the `84-`90 butt. so now lets talk about money and or preference. i dont know about you but i gave 10k for mine and now have another 10k in it with motor, stereo, tires. ( done all the work myself, no labor charges). how much more should i expect to spend to change the interior to red and change the nose? ( i will do the paint work aswell.) that little combo will fill my bill almost for the same price i could buy a late model style for. but that leads back to preference. i want both or three an `82 would be nice.

I'm curious, if and when you decide to do the change if the interior you have would be in good enough condition to go into another car? If so would you sell it? If so could you give me details about what seats and material you have?

The "hoses" are at AutoZone and also in the back of Summit and some other catalogs.

Nope, the car still isn't done. Turns out I have some serious leaks around the runners on the SR, mostly where they meet the manifold. Spray some carb cleaner and listen to the engine roar! Hopefully the runners are ALL that's leaking; I do NOT want to have to pull the manifold again. The mechanic is in the process of getting a "smoke machine" that will show leaks in the intake system, so my car may be the guinea pig for it...
