cam lift: how much can LT1/4 take?

I am just a pinch concerned as my new cam will have .566/563
lift with 214/224 @050 dur, 112 deg sep.

That is a little more lift than what I bargained for, which is great
for performance, but I need some durability also.

What do you all think?

I am a bigger fan of duration anyway, extra lift is nice, but it really requires a really good head for lift to be a factor. the real performance comes from duration on stock and close to stock cars.

I think your car can 'handle' the duration, if by handle you mean 'not break'. I really liked the cam that you first picked, i can't believe they don't make it anymore!

Well,
The 212/224 dur @050, 520/536 lift cam would idle better but
is more conservative, will make less power.

I'm not concerned at all about the duration, just the lift. 566
is higher than just about anything I've seen. The Hot cam
is 525/525. So that's a little scary.

Don't be too concerned about the lift, it won't break your car. The hotcam is a bit of an oddball in my opinion. It is a cam designed to not break your car, but make power at high RPM, which in turn can break your car. The cam you picked will work just fine, and make plenty of power over stock. I am excited to hear how your car runs after you get it back. who is doing the re-program of the computer?

I told him 212/224 duration, so the program will be a little
off since it's actually 214. I called and they said that little
tweak won't change the program. I guess these things are
not as specific as I thought.

I picked a rev limit of 6300 rpm so I can reap the cam's benefits,
by shifting no later than 6100 rpm. Hopefully, during autocross,
I won't run it up to the limiter. With my stock 3.45's, hopefully
6000 rpm is equates to a faster speed in first than I would go,
unless it's a straight away (then I will down shift).

Vettelt193, you can come up any time. This car was built
with a bit of your advice over the last months!

Fast Chip does good work, so you should be fine there. Once you start autoXing the car, you can figure if you need/want a different gear set.

On a side note, are you going to the 50th ann. celebration in nashville/bowling green?

I am gonna go on the Caravan for a day and turn back.
My 50th celebration money is really going into the car.
I will be at Carslile as usual, though (sob) only on Sunday
since I have to go to a Wedding in NY on Friday.
