Looking for cam and lifter suggestions would like as close to stock but maybe a little more bump not sure?? what do you folks suggest.

ps I got the car out of storage and got my FIX !!

Sorry,I can't be of any help.I would like to know the same thing.I don't think there is a lot if any preformance parts for these engines. If you do a cam/lifter swap will it make any difference without changing the heads, witch I think is the weak link to preformance on the crossfire cars.I'll just lurk if you don't mind.Have you taken off that flapper thing on your hood?I'm thinking of doing that but I'm not sure if it's worth the bother.

In case you haven't checked here.

I am hearing good things about the Crane 2040 cam.
The 85 fuel pump upgrade is a good place to start, along with intake porting and improved exhaust, if you really want to see some performance and RPM increase.

Yeah, it really was nice here today.:)

Yes it is worth the 5 minutes it takes to remove. Lots of cooler air gets to the air filters without any restriction.
The down side is mice can get in through it and build nests in the air cleaner box.:crazy
No really! This is a real picture of what they did to my 82!!!!!!

Yeah I don't have the flapper, that is the only thing not stock. It did not come with the car when I bought it. I was going to just change lifters but figured while tearing down maybe also cam.

It's not JUST the heads that are the "weak link" in the crossfire system. The heads, intake, throttle bodies AND cam all have to be thought of as one unit working together. I ran a 2040 with a stock intake, overbored TBs and stock ported heads...didn't make a lot of difference. Then I took the intake and siamesed the runners, installed a 2050 cam, swapped the ECM and did a little tuning....and ended up knocking almost 2 seconds off the 0-60 time and it'll pull to 5500 or so...and the 2050 has a nice small "lope" to it (at sea level anyway).

It's only going to be as good as the weakest link between the air intake and combustion chamber. ;)

Replaced the ECM with a 1228746

There's a thread on the crossfire forum somewhere with pictures of the siamesed intake. When I remember where I saved those I'll post one here...been a while since I messed with it.
