Has anyone here tried the LS-1 Hot Cam in the LS-6?

From the research I've done, and dyno simulations I've run, it seems to produce some good power in the 5000-6000 RPM range. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it in an LS-6 and what the result was.

I'm looking to change the cam in the future and was considering the HotCam because I wouldn't have to change my valvesprings since it's only 0.525 lift, but the performance improvement seems to be pretty good.

hey dave... you might try this place: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-180252they don't have many good things to say about the ls1 hotcam. that link is to one thread about it, but look around a bit. someone made a comment that the LS6 stock cam is better than the hotcam. it is geared towards LS1 owners, but it still seems useful

I'd say the GM hotcam would not be my first choice especially for 2002 and newer Z06's.


G3x5 or G2X5 would give about 420 rear wheel hp and could go as high as 450rwhp with stock heads. (with appropriate valvetrain upgrades in both applications ie. dual spring kits rated at up to .650 lift)

I am not sure when I will be back... In the next couple of months maybe. I will have to make sure I get down there by Friday Evening too. I have wanted to catch up with the old car gang for quite some time now! You still have your '97 Z-28 with the Big Block?

Yep...still running strong. I just repaired the exhaust system this past weekend because I ran over something in the road that cracked a weld on one of the pipes coming home from the cruise-in one night.
