Can a 1990's Instrument Cluster be swapped with a 92?

I was wondering....I have already purchased a 92 cluster and from some other people...I have heard that it can be used in place of my own (a 1990)

I plugged in the 92 today and all the analog gauges seem to work ok...but the digital part was all messed up.....numbers missing, partial on other numbers.....just not right....Iam assuming it was just taken out of a car and never tried..

I just want to be sure that Iam not opening more problems then what I already am dealing with....

I thought about just sending my unit in for repair....(my tach doesn't work correctly anymore)....but if I can get a newer cluster for the same price as repairing mine....I would like to go that route...(I like the style of the 92's better)

Please post if you know anything about this swapping....like I said....I was told that I can use anywhere from a 1990-1993 cluster.....after that the connections are different.....

thanks again...

Yes it will work.. BUT you will need to swap LCD Panels with the one out of your 90 cluster. the CCM that controls the digital display on the 90-91 is different from the 92-96. I have a 1996 8K Tach cluster in my 91 dash but I am using the LCD from a 90-91 Cluster.

Hope that helps
