Can anyone at all look in their C5 FSM and please tell me which fuse controls the chimes module?

I would gladly help someone else who needed this information as it is not listed in the owners manual.

Hi there,

This is controlled by the BCM.'

What issues are you having ????

Thanks for answering.

I think this is heat (ambient outside) related.

I drove it for a couple of hours the other day in 90 degree weather. It was fine. Then about two hours later I drove my son back to his house. When I started it we noticed a sound. It was extremely annoying, enough to give you a headache.

The sound sounds like the door or seat belt chime constantly on but at a very low volume. It still has the same high pitch but at a low volume.

No varying in sound with engine revving, or anything like that. It sounds like it is coming from directly in the center of the cabin of the car. I first thought it might be the A/C or fans so I messed with them, nothing. It sounds too much like a stuck chime.

I tried to pull codes but got none.

I really appreciate this because unless I drive with the music blasting this will drive me insane.

HI there,

I think you need to remove the passenger side toe board and see if there is any wetness inside there.

My guess is that the BCM may be getting wet.

Take a look and let us know.

Yes.

The chime works if you open the door with the lights on and key out of the ignition.

It works if the seat belts are not connected.

HI there,
NO, do not turn the lights on, do not buckle the seat belt, do not put the key in the ignition and do not start the car.

When you open the door, do you hear the chime ???

Allthebest, c4c5

Sorry c4c5, my bust.

With the key out of the ignition, lights off, and seat belt unbuckled and opening the door I get no chime.

Ok, so while your driving, when hot you get the chime.

Does flipping the light switch, buckling the seat belt or anything else shut the chime off ???

And there are NO DTC in any module ????

POST ANY CODES if you had any in any module.

Allthebest, c4c5

Nothing like that shuts it off.

Just now checked the codes.

I got 99-HVAC B0363H

But I never use the A/C OR heat. I usually leave it off and drive with the windows open. I like it that way.

HI there,

Honestly, from here, you will need to have the body control module scanned for inputs as to why the chime is being activated.

The chime actually is generated by your instrument panel cluster.

Seat belt, key in ignition when the door is open, headlights on when the door is open are only a few inputs that trigger the chime.

The data is the only way to determine WHY the instrument cluster is turning on the chime.

Thanks c4c5, I really do appreciate your help.

But...could you please tell me exactly which fuse controls it?

Thanks.

Paul

Thanks.

What I wanted to do is when or if it happens again, I want to pull that fuse and see if it goes away and stays away.

I feel there may be an electronic relay circuit overheating and not opening the relay, thereby allowing the chime unit to shut off.
