I want to clean up the junk around my motor. So i am going to replace the smog pump with one of those pulley replacements. Along with doing that I know that i can also remove all the air injection junk on the pasenger side of the motor that hooks up to the smog pump. This will really clean up the motor, and give it a beter look.

How about those tubes that are welded on the top of both exhaust manifolds that run into the air injection valve. Can I remove these tubes and weld the 7 holes shut? (I say 7 holes because one is for the EGR)

There is just one more things that would really make my motor look good. If i could get rid of that AC pump. Is there a replacement pully for that, or could i get a smaller belt and just eliminate the AC pump and tensioner. By running the belt around the crank pulley, right under the water pump, up over my smog pulley to the alternator then to the power steering back to crank. ;shrug http://corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=0#

I moving this to the C4 Mods section, since you're modifying your Corvette. ;)

I reused my tensioner and modified the bracket, when I discarded my air conditioning; you just gotta measure and shop for a belt to fit.

....

I was just worried that no one would have a belt the right size. Were did you get your's at?

thanx, dan

March pulleys

When I swapped to the March 3pc pulley set I measured and went to AutoZone ... they had the right size Goodyear Gator ... Haven't had a problem with it.

HrtBeat1, Hey do you have a pic of your motor by chance?

Old pic

I still have all the air pump and A/C just went to the smaller March pulleys ... crank, alt. and water pump.

The only pic I could find was when I had the radiator out and was heading for the water pump / timing chain. I took it just as a cross check for the belt routing. I dropped my camera about two weeks ago and sure could use it now. At least for the humor. How many times have you seen an entire 700R4 dissassembled in a living room.:L

You can remove the air pump& all the crap that goes with it,However I would not remove the EGR tube or the EGR valve! I think you will run into detenation problems if you do!!! Im not sure on the A/C comp. SORRY!! Paul:D
