Hi

l think and l'm only guessing, but it seems that when l go over a large seam in the road the brakes rattle. l tried applying the brakes while l drive over a seam and the rattle was gone!!

Could the pads be loose or something like that, or should l have a mechanic take a peek. The brakes were checked out when l picked the car up and they were almost new, with cross drilled rotors 200 miles ago. The brakes were checked l'm sure on a lift, so the rattles were not heard. The cross drilled rotors will be off as soon as l get around to it. The car stops without a problem, it's just the rattles that bugs me.

Besides the pads, what else should l look for? Everything else seems tight but who knows!

Thanks

Alan

The calipers are 'floating' on the front.... but, they should not be too easy to move, or I should say move so much they make noise. You may be missing a pin? If you grab onto the caliper, can you move it and make it rattle? I am betting it is one or the other, not both.

Thanks

I will have it checked out today.

Thanks

Alan

When you apply brakes going over the seam (or anywhere) it puts tension on all kinds of suspension parts, drive joints etc that may in fact be the cause of your rattles, not the brakes themselves. On a hoist you should be able to poke around enough to find a serious problem.
