Can u recommend a shifter upgrade?

After driving around my Celica all winter the shifter in my 96 Vette feels very long and onus now. Can anyone recommend any upgrade shifters to replace the stock, I'm starting to hate the very large shifter knob too..

I was considering that too but don't want to deviate too much from the stock look.

Anyone????Suggestions????

I put the Hurst shifter in mine over a year ago. I like it a lot. Good, short, positive throws.

I was trying to remove the knob last night and have no idea how to do it. I flipped open the cap and I see this metal bar sticking. I tried to trun the knob but no go, started to crack on the inside. How do I remove the knob? Also is easy to install the Hurst shifter kit?

B&M ripper shifter it a real short shift you do have to drop your exhust and mufflers it took a ase mech. about 4 hours to install it but ill never go back it great.

guessguy, you have to pull that metal wedge straight up and out, then the knob unscrews. Just work side to side with some needle-nose pliers, and it will eventually come out!

What Jason said about dropping the exhaust was true for me as well. Some guys have posted that they were able to make the change with exhaust in place, but I couldn't.
