What is the name of the bracket that mounts the half shaft to the spindle/wheel assembly at the u-joint? ;help

When my u-joint blew, it fused itself to this part and no amount of persuasion is going to separate them. :bang I tried to find it on Eckler's web site and have not been successful yet - haven't tried anybody else yet. I also can't find a name for it in the Assembly Manual or Haynes.:confused ;shrug

Thanks,
Culprit

The piece that actually holds the u-joint is the axle flange. The piece which mates to that with 4 bolts and has the splines to slide on to the spindle is the spindle flange.

Axle flange - thanks Dave!

Now that I know what it's called, I just have to find one to buy...

140 bucks?!

I found the part on Eckler's web site - for $140!! I was expecting about $40. I'll keep looking at some other suppliers, but I think I should re-enter into negotiations with the old part - and this time try to be a little more persuasive than I have been thus far.

Culprit - I have one in stock for $91.18 + ups. If interested send me an email and I'll give you my phone number.

Thank you

Thanks for the help everyone. I couldn't open elseyj's link from work today for some reason.

My negotiation skills must be improving because I was able to talk that crazy flange into handing over the u-joint after all. Okay, so maybe there wasn't much talking involved. Just the sound of an angle grinder, and some more hammering. I got the thing all cleaned up tonight (after throwing a cast net for some fresh shrimp - I think I'm going to like living in SC!) so if I get some time tomorrow night, or definitely over the weekend, I should get the new ones pressed in and bolt the car back together. I was going to replace all 6 joints after that one broke, but I think I'll just stick with the 2 on that half-shaft and do the others later on (like maybe this winter). I'd rather be driving!

Thanks again for all the help.

Culprit
